New Install Disk Boot Failure GIG DS3

I just finished (well... trying to anyway) my first build.

E6420
Gigabyte DS3
2GB RAM G.Skill
320GB HD
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
Pioneer DVD

When I try to load software off my DVD ... I get "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and press enter" .

Everything is NEW... so I have not formatted my HD or anything.

Under the Advanced BIOS Features. I set the BIOS to first boot device for CDROM and just insert VISTA into the DVD. Then I get the error after the bios check. Again.. I see no light on the DVD. The green light on the DVD does not go on.. so I am guessing I have a BIOS setting error. When I Open and Close the DVD the green light is on.

Am I correct in that the next step is to install VISTA and it will format the HD.. then I can load drivers for the Video Card, etc? So for some reason my computer is not recognizing the DVD?

What am I doing wrong? Any Ideas?

thanks

OOPS... I found my own problem. It seems I "broke" a pin on the connector. I am not sure how that happened.. ... I picked up a different DVD and it is working now.

thanks!
