Trout slapping is a python thing right? I think i have an mpeg of that lying around here somewhere....
Not a trout, but YES, a classic Monty Python skit! Something like "the fish slapping dance" -- two guys in suits on a woefully bare conrete pier somewhere in industrial England. To the cadence of some inane Elizabethan "folk" music one guy in a suit dances form the waist down and then hits the other guy, eventually, but in musical time, with a large fish.
I remember this viviidly (but perhaps somewhat inaccuartely) because I'm very, very strange AND because my long, long time good friend Bill McCann, a blind Viet vet, senior programmer/analyst and horn playing musician once had this skit "explained" to him in real time by his then girlfriend, now wife Elaine, a gorgeous and EMPLOYED classical musician, and it stuck in his crazy, humorous, optimistic head. He's one of those blind people who used to have sight, so he had an "anchor" on which to visualize this.
I used to schlep his band, The Three Blind Bills -- all blind, all named Bill -- to gigs in my 1970 VW camper van. Once, we were lost in the rain, and I stopped and asked this black guy for directions. When I told him where I wanted to go, he said, in a deep voice, "You're WAY off!"' The three blind Bills laughed their collective asses off all the way to the gig.
I now have to go see if I can google this Python skit.
Ah, the memories!
