That was my initial thought Yuri...
To hold off until prices come down.
As you say to get enjoy the full 4k experience you need some pricey equipment at this point like the 980TI and Monitor. Those alone are a good grand. So I might as well just stick to my initial plan.

Sometimes it drives you crazy reading and researching cause you seem to keep going back and fourth. There are so many pros and cons to each choice and so many choices.
So all and all you guys think I should pull the trigger on the i7 4790 or do you any of you think I would benefit with the 5820 series chip.. You get more cores, cache, threads and ddr4 ram. So many choices :). But I didn't see what looked to as good of gaming motherboards for the X-99 5th gen cpus.. What do you guys think about these choices?

Doesn't 5775C beat 4790K at gaming?

Assuming you could find a 5775C for sale...

By my estimation, some of the parts are unnecessarily expensive, but there's definitely nothing wrong with any of them.

1. I would probably opt for DDR3 1866 or 2133, unless there's no premium on the 2400, as there is virtually no performance difference with faster RAM on Haswell, except in a few specific applications. Faster RAM won't hurt, but there's not a lot of value in it.

2. The only advantages I can see over a $90 motherboard are improved shielding of sound circuitry, and beefier power delivery. The latter doesn't seem all that useful to me, as Haswell has never really been limited in overclocking potential when not under LN2 (and perhaps not even then). This $120 board has USB3.1, which your chosen board does not.

3. SeaSonic has a well-deserved reputation for building solid and reliable power supplies, but if I were buying for myself, I'd probably go with something like this $65 Antec 550w which has a higher efficiency rating and half the cost, or perhaps this $95 650w. Dual 970's and a 4790K should work nicely with a 550w unit with some power to spare. Your system, as configured, probably doesn't draw more than around 250w.

4. You might consider a tower cooler rather than an AIO water solution, as the pumps in AIO's have a reputation for being rather noisy. I would likely only consider an AIO in a small form factor case, where a tower cooler would make it obnoxious to access ports and such on the motherboard. The Hyper212 EVO is often considered one of the best values in tower coolers (excluding sales) and comes in around $30, while Noctua's higher-end offerings tend to take the absolute performance crown. Noctua's tower heat sinks will probably be more expensive than the Corsair unit you picked out, but I ran watercooling for more than 12 years and am tired of dead pumps and leaks, and now advise people to avoid unnecessary complexity.

5. Arctic Silver 5 is still a fine thermal paste, but there are stronger offerings on the market now. You might consider IC7 Diamond instead.

That said, I'm sure you'd have no regrets, other than cost, with your selected parts (other than *possibly* the cooler).

Hello Yuriman,
I appreciate you taking the time to provide your honest recommendation.

Memory
Great recommendations there I will certainly go back and revisit my choices.

Power Supply
I am currently running a Corsair Power Supply on my Dual Core System and it has served me well for over 5 years now. The quality was superb and I have never had an issue with it. The only thing that I wished it had after purchasing it is a modular design. I have never had a modular power supply, but thought it would make the installation easier and make for much cleaner cable management. With that said, I had hoped to go with the same model. I then was informed that Seasonic made a lot of the Corsair Power Supplies and had found the modular model that looked like a great candidate. The ones you recommended look great, but are not modular.

Cooler
Your comments make sense and I had already planned to go with air cooling instead of water. I am considering the Hyper212 or Noctua. I am kind of leaning toward the Hyper212 as it's ratings were close to the Noctua and like 1/3 of the cost.

Thermal Compound
I seen the IC7 out there, but didn't know whether it made that big of difference.
But for a few bucks more....why not. I will go with it.

I will re-adjust my options and report back my results to see what you guys think.

Thanks again for your advise.

Hey Yuriman,
Upon further research I think I am going to go with the current Skylake Build.
This is what I came up with.. I may go with the Arctic 7 thermal paste though.
And I will go over my components again to see if I can fine tune a bit more..
But overall I decided that the cost for the new Skylake 1151 Z170 architecture is not much more in cost and I figure I might as well go with the benefits it provides at this time period.
And I love Gigabytes board.. The one I chose is like the little brother to the flagship which costs almost 500 bucks... This is a 220.00 board, but looks like it is worth it the way it is built. And you get the dual Ethernet for packet prioritizing and 3.1 and sound card.

What do you think?
Then later I will SLI a pair of 970s

And I know I keep bouncing to the higher watt power supplies.. but it's only 88 bucks and I figure I would rather not take the chance to ever run out.
I have mega fans to support on my case, and then 4 memory chips and duel sli down the road and 2 external dvd's and this that and the other... who knows :)

32GB is a lot of RAM and I might've done 16 now and 16 later when prices come down, but if you'll use it there's little reason not to (you'd probably only save a few dollars). I can't fault you on your component selection. It looks pretty solid.

I think Transcend has a newer/faster SSD for around the same price as the MX100, but they haven't been out long, and cheaper SSDs occasionally have significant bugs that are fixed later via firmware.

EDIT: I was wrong, the Crucial appears to be the faster drive.

Thanks Yuri,
I appreciate your blessing..
You have been very helpful in making me see the light and make
a reasonable components selection that make sense for my new build.

Now it's just pulling the trigger on getting these components.. I hope to do that within the next couple weeks.

i read the first post and it s horrible:
don t buy i7 on class-performance socket , they re the worst way to use your money, and don t buy a 220$ mobo on performance socket.

my advice is to:

- or save money and buy a i5 with low budget mobo on performance socket
-or buy a 220$ mobo on Enthusiast socket (2011-v3) with chipset x99. If you don t plan to buy 2 graphics cards you can take 5820k because 28 pciex lanes are enough

atm 4core i7 are the worst way to use money: i5 or 5820k

NHIRL,
I appreciate your advice, but if you provide it please state your reasons why.
You are speaking about my first post... This is the entire reason I am here is to improve on my initial build plan. Since my first post I have decided to go with the more current
6th gen build. So far the I7-6700 seems to be more appealing to me than the i5.
Plus the i7 has hyperthreading which I think will be an advantage for my needs. Outside of that it seems to meet and exceed the i5 specifications for the most part Intel is supposed to announce more information about them next month. So right now I will just be keeping my eyes open to read more information about the (2) so I can make sure when I make my purchase it is the right decision.

Well I should be ordering my parts within the next couple weeks...
Today I installed Windows 10 Enterprise and have to say I am pretty happy with it.
I installed it on a low performance i5 laptop to test it. It booted up very noticeably faster.
Windows 10 looks like it will work very nicely. One thing though that I am wondering is why they would create the Edge Browser with no plugin capability. I guess security is the reason, but how is that going to work with many of the software on the market that still requires plugins to run like Java based apps. Now Chrome has taken away Java Support from their latest updates as well for security reasons. Chrome used to be my favorite browser, but now am forced to use other browsers to work with my java based apps.. I understand windows 10 added IE11 for backward compatibility, but why have to resort back to IE11 to deviate away from their primary Edge Browser.. Will be interesting to see how all this plays out .

You can get the mobo you want and 16gb of GSkill DDR4 on newegg combo deal for $319.- right now.....

The GPU you want is also on sale for $329.- with a $20.- MIR.

Timing is everything. $100.- saved.

Thanks Monkey ..
Yes, I did see that motherboard/memory bundle deal but passed it up
cause I want to go with 4x8GB Modules, not the 4x4 in that deal.
My plan on this build is to go with 32gb of ram and be done with it so I don't have
to worry about memory until the next build (hopefully up to the next 5 years).
Now for the CPU deal. I will definitely hook up with that one. I plan to give my component choices one last look over this weekend and hopefully make my purchase by then.
