Hello All,
A friend of mine is building a new house, he is running wiring at this time. He is going to have a total of 3 pc's in the house, the main pc, an one in each of the kid's room's. Should he run wiring to each of the room's or go with a wireless set-up to tie the 3 pc's together for printer sharing ect.
Thanks Gambill

This is a no-brainer! :D If you have the chance while it's easy to do, run CAT5e to as many places as you can, terminating at a common convenient junction point. You want all "home runs" from a single location to the junction point.

If he can pony up a spare $1000 or so, (max), setting up conduit runs to two corners of all the rooms, going to the likely place near a home entertainment system is also a no brainer. Also would plan out surround sound and get that up in the walls.
I wish I had that opportunity here, man!!

GAMBILL, run conduit and put in wall boxes. Go crazy, really. Put in a couple boxes in every room. You might later run network cable in those, or TV cable, or phone runs, or whatever. Conduit and boxes are cheap. But once that drywall goes up, running cables becomes much more expensive and much more hassle.

In particular, make sure he has several conduits as risers between floors, basement to attic if he's got a two-story house. That's the toughest thing to do later.

RUN AS MUCH NOW AS POSSIBLE!!
RUN AS MUCH NOW AS POSSIBLE!!
RUN AS MUCH NOW AS POSSIBLE!!

lol, but it will really help you out later, reember cat5e or better

as cmetz says plan ahead for the future, even if its unlikely to be done.

Well, if you are building a new house, go wired. It is faster and cheaper to install. Once a house is built I would go wireless. I have wireless and I am satisfied with it,

My house wasn't wired, and I went with the wired solution. I did have the foresight to install a 2" pipe from the attic to the basement, so I have access between floors, that came in REAL handy. :D
