Hi

l am red and pretty illiterate computer wise.

Looking for a camera/phone thats simple to operate. Takes good close up pix. l am with Alltel/Verizon. l can update w/no penalty. When Alltel was eaten a couple years ago they left a couple of their stores.

Mostly need a smart phone that takes good close ups

Yeah, but Motorola camera's suck. HTC's aren't much better. Samsung camera's tend to be good but their GPS sucks. The Pre has a good camera but yeah, the rest of it sucks. Notice a theme? You can't have everything. Honestly I would have to agree, the iPhone has a really good camera and the rest of the phone is pretty damn good.

Phone first, everything else is extra. Don't compare anything extra a phone can do to a separate device designed to do it.

Don't get fooled by the large megapixels. A camera with a 5MP resolution will be infinitely better than a cell phone camera with a 8MP resolution. Likewise there can be 5MP cell phone cameras that are better than the 8MP cell phone cameras.

Granted I haven't had a ton of different cell phone usage but the iPhone 4 does have a pretty decent one. It's still not going to nearly equal a pocket point & shoot camera but relatively speaking it's pretty good.
 
So big mp numbers dont mean better pix. l understand this. The phone l have now is 2mp. A Samsung given by a family member w/touch screen app 2yrs old. l may have to look in this new Verison phone. l appreciate the response given. esp to a nuby
