Either way, this is definitely the most readable intro thread in a long time, OP even has a personal avatar.

Seems I'll have to peruse the DV&C forum sometime, because he is definitely not making a good impression in the Garage or OT. I apologize for the rash judgement, but when the forums splintered so much I took it upon myself to only read the subforums I truly like. Used to really like photography, and used to do my own B&W prints, but digital turned everyone into a potential photographer, and the field specialized in ways I did not feel like going.

well...yeah. Dude truly is in odd bird--and a good bit nutso on very many issues, but I still think of him as the best photography source around here. Well, now that GA has been been banned for some time.
 
Some of. ..no... most of the gifted people I know are more than a little odd. I have my quirks for sure!

I do not understand what all the caution is about. My name is Matt (I spell it m@ because I like it that way) and my one and ONLY member name is aLphaNERD. I also do not understand all the non-sense about scam threads. I'm a simple guy that has been married for 15 years and has 3 children. I dabble in digital art because I am disabled now and can't carry a gun anymore (I was a cop at one time). I'm not here to waste time or throw any BS around. I was told about this forum from another forum I belong to (EVGA) and thought I would stop by here and try and sale my camera bundle.

With that being said I have met some interesting characters today by starting this introduction thread. And if no one objects, I would like to hang around a bit and see where this road leads. Feel free to check me out on EVGA.com you'll see that I have been there about 3 years.

I'm not sure what else I can do to convince the skeptics but i'll try. m@

Simply put, this forum is dying. There are a lot of old timers that stick around to make fun of the new blood, and in exchange most of the new people are spammers or alt accounts specifically for trolling.

If you are not here to waste time or BS, then stick to the tech forums, they still have some dignity intact.

Just ignore the trolls that are giving you a hard time. Some of them have nothing better to do than try to chase people away from here. They have no social skills and they are still practicing here, in the event they actually meet some people in real life. :biggrin:

Don't try.

Those of us that have been around here a bit have had our emotions toyed with. Banned members coming back, pretending to be someone completely different, scammers, trolls and even more than a couple mentally ill people. With a forum this large and with some of us having been here over a decade, there are scars.

Though most posting negatively are just trolling. Ignore them. They are worth less than gnats and don't deserve your attention. You will earn respect in the Hardware and Technology forums, OT is a place to blow off steam. Then after a while you will realize that the H&T forums are populated by trolls and manufacturer plants who are paid to post. If you stick around, you'll probably end up bitter and edgy like the rest of us.

Its the way it is. Just remember never to use the word "savages"

No, not on the job. That is not to say that I did not get hurt while being a cop. The disability is tied to the job though but I wont get into that as it is a cut too deep to revisit...

Sorry to hear that but welcome. Since you were a cop I'll bet you have thick skin so you'll likely do fine around here. Lots of good information and people but you need some pretty high waders to deal with the BS
