opinions anyone? Remember the Xp/2000 issues before the 4.03 update? I'm never going to relive the h*ll. It made my Win2k box a blue-screen-o-matic. The last drivers were/are wonderful I'm excited to see some opinions here.

No problems for me in BF1942 with Hardware Acc. eneabled...

Here's a little secret for those with the old GTXP card like me: ;)

The Hercules guy posted this on their forums: NOTE: Owners of the previous version of the GTXP will have the card recongnized as GTXP 6.1 in Device Manager, and will have the "Regular" GTXP CPL with the 7.1 options. The owners of the GTXP 7.1 will have the new CPL.

If you want the new panel, just go to device manager, and manually update the drivers to the 7.1 version. You'll have to point manually to the Program Files/Hercules... folder and uncheck the "Show compatible hardware" box or you'll only see the GTXP 6.1 drivers. Don't worry about the warning, they're basically the same drivers. I'm using them now and they work perfectly.

Feature-wise, they're the same (both have 7.1), but this lets you use the shiny new control panel. :) Pics--->

Alright, these drivers won't let me install them. They asked me to uninstall my old drivers before proceeding..so I allowed them to, and then they told me to resart. After restarting, I start up the driver installation and it tells me to restart again..EVERY TIME!!! I just don't get it:(

yeah, im definitley having the same problem as derusto.
It keeps rebooting after uninstalling my old drivers, and would not do anythig after that. Just execute, uninstall old, reboot. Doesn't even unpack the new drivers file so I can install them manually.

Stop/cancel the installation, go clean everything up and run the install file again. (delete the program files/Hercules and windows/cwcdata folders)

Anyone have a problem getting their gameport to work? M previous Sblive! and Philips AE all had no problems with the gameport, but the GTXP cannot properly assign the IO ports for it and Win2k simply won't let me get around it. I picked up the GTXP recently and it is a very cool card. My biggest gripe is the Sensara 3D constantly crashes hl.exe, so I must disable it.

well i got it working by reinstall 4.10 drivers, uninstalling using the 5.01 installation. and then installing the 5.01 drivers.

BUT, i noticed there seems to be more noise in the 5.01 drivers.... (how "non-silent" it is when u turn up volume on speakers without playing any sounds). I notice more noise picked up from the computer running things, when the harddrive is running that is...

Here's the list of improvements:

Unified driver structure (Game Theater XP/ Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1/ Digifire 7.1)
This allows for a better engineering response time to any known bugs.

Simplified End-user installation process:

Cleaner install / uninstall involving less registry manipulation.

Improved performance & stability (notably with Win XP)

Memory management, stream-lined registry handling

DSP resource usage improved

8 channel WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE implemented. Compatible with Power DVD PRO EX in 6.1 and 7.1 DD EX modes.(if available in your hardware)

8 channel analog output using the headphone jack. (if available in your hardware)

MiniDisc® mode added. Help to resolve the tracking problems & improves compatibility with MiniDiscs® recorders.

Fixes:
Various mixer bugs addressed.

Disappearing center & sub

Better handling of gameport resources with Nvidia nForce chipset equipped motherboard.

Note:
The Help files are available separately in the Application/utility section

Having read this first at work I decided to uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones, that worked fine. I'm currently testing them and the headphone output is awesome. I'll reply back if I reach a snag.

I'm using Windows 2000.

OK, wtf is up.. These drivers won't even install on a fresh install of WinXP. Actually, they installed just fine, but Windows is having trouble accepting the drivers. There was also a error with the .cpl file and it apparently screwed up everything else. I just now got them to uninstall themselves..I guess I'll keep you posted on my efforts..:disgust:

So what's the 7th channel? I've always known the GTXP would be able to support 7.1 speaker set-ups. Anyone utilizing all 8 channels? How do you connect the 7th channel to your GTXP??

That's normal since they're not WHQL, you have to click "Continue".

7th channel is a second rear, the headphones jack is used in stereo to hook up the 2 rears. It actually worked back when they released the 6.1 drivers, but the 2 channels from the headphone plug were the same, that's why they still called it 6.1. Now the 2 rears are separate...

I see... so 6.1 surround sound is Dolby Digital Surround EX. (I thought Dolby's 6.1 spec was that the surround rear channel was a mono signal being reproduced over 2 speakers). Isn't DTS-ES the true "7.1" --> the surround rear channel is a stereo signal being reproduced by the 2 speakers (obviously)?

These new drivers are toxic to my system. Made me reinstall, then I tried to install the new drivers again on a fresh XP corp and it hosed it. My system is xp2000, soyo dragon lite kt333, 512mb ddr pc2100 mushkin, 256mb ddr pc2100 crucial, 9700pro ati retail, and of course gtxp, running win xp corp.

If you have similar system, be cautious.

DD-EX is 6.1 and THX Surround EX is 7.1. Both are matrixed, which means the mono or stereo rear is extracted from the left and right surrounds. (a la Dolby Prologic, where the rear was extracted from the 2 fronts)

DTS-ES 6.1 can be either matrixed (same as DD-EX) or discreet, where the rear is a true stand-alone stream.

Thank you much:) but that's not what I meant. I know how to press continue;)

What I really meant was that windows was getting errors..or maybe it was just plain confused about how to use them..but it would not install the drivers. I finally got it to reinstall the 410's and I'm gonna stick with those for a little while now.

UleeKunkel: thanks for the replies about system specs, I just wanted to see if it might have been an incompatibility with my chipset or whatnot.. I guess itmight be because I am running a kt333 board as well(7vrxp to be precise) although, it could still be some crazy thing with gigabyte;)

oh well, i'll figure it out eventually
