Hey Guys I'm new to this forum and need some help...

I have a raptor 74 gb installed already, but just ordered a samsung spinpoint p 250gb and I'm having trouble getting getting it to work... Everything is connected and when Im booting I get asked about RAID, but then when I get into windows it doesnt reconize the new HD!

Whats am I doing wrong?

Assuming you're running XP, do you have SP2 and latest uptdates? Anything before that won't deal with drives larger than 137 GB.

I'm still running sp1. So your saying that windows won't even see the hd because its larger than 137gb?

Windows won't recognize the full capacity.

As far as your RAID issue, you may need to poke around in the BIOS settings, or plug it into a different port. Telling us what motherboard you have may help.

You can format the drive from within Windows. Right click on My Computer and choose Manage. Click on Disk Management, and in the area to the right of the drive, right click and choose Format.

Welcome to the Forums!

The problem is that I can't even see the HD from Manage! I'm running on the asus A8V Deluxe. I'm trying to upgrade to SP2, but Windows is so retarded that I can't even find the download for sp2... I keep getting thrown into a loop of their bs and never get the dl...

Depending on how the drive is connected and your particular raid chipset, you may need to set the hd up in the raid bios w/ just a 1 disk "array". I know the fasttrak's are like this.. it won't see the drive in windows unless it's a raidset. If you aren't using the raid controller at all (ie, you're just using single disks), you may be able to disable the raid controller and have it operate as a regular sata/ide controller.

If you are going to use both drives, you really want a JBOD setup, not a raid array. Read the manual to see what terminology your controller uses to set that up.

Jagilbertvt's solution worked! I must say that is the dumbest thing i've ever heard of.. I have to run raid in order to use the HD, but it works... Thnx alot man
