i've been running two 36GB Raptors in RAID-0, on my sil3114r5 controller.
mobo is an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium.

i've decided to drop my raid-0 (maybe) in lieu of my new 150GB Raptor purchase. i am taking cisco CCNA and micro$oft MCSE cert classes so i'd like to set up a few VMs to save on buying extra boxes for domain controllers and such. i even got a WRT54GL modded with a 1GB sd card to offload my FTP and maybe apache server onto my router.

I have a lot of options now. I have two 36GB Raptors, one 150GB raptor, one 200GB WD caviar IDE (pretty much for storage), 2 separate RAID controllers, 2 IDE controllers, and 3 OSes to install.
(the nForce 4's Southbridge supports NCQ, so that's where the new Raptor is going)

i dont want to use server 2003 as my main OS cause it sucks at some desktop stuff, i want to get into linux with Ubuntu, and i want my main os to remain WinXP Pro until vista is mature...lets say...SP3? WinFS anyone?.

i'd like some advice. are there probs with linux/SATA? what boot loader/MBR? partition or no partition? leave raid-0 but move it to secondary and off of primary? RAID-1?

lots of thinking to do.
