But everytime I watch it I get depressed that Richard Harris had to die :(. He was such an awesome Dumbledore and the new guy is such a poor one. The sucky thing is that I don't get to see Richard Harris play the bad-assery of the 4-5-6 Dumbledore. Harris was a friggin' rugby player for crying out loud, he could've pulled it off.

Absolutely. Although I saw the first movie before reading the book, and thus my mental image of the characters was pretty much set, I can say that Richard Harris perfectly played the character as he is developed in the books. The new guy is too animated, too gruff, too loud. He looks like an old hippie.

.... you have to wait three years before that's OK. :D

Actually, I am more scared that you know it is three years.

She is pretty. That is all. You guys will lose interest once she turns 25 because apparently they are only interesting when they are underage. I tell the truth.

I don't really care about the age too much, as long as the person is mature enough and cool enough, I will date them. But that pretty much takes care of anyone that is still dependant on their folks or is too young and always talks about sex. again.

If this girl was mature enough, I would date her. I might mention, dating doesn't have to include sex, guys. You can date for the pure enjoyment of getting to know someone and hanging out with someone exclusively. <sigh> ATOT is really getting depressing with all the younger people here now.

Agreed on all accounts, except that I don't think Michael Gambon is THAT bad. He's a GREAT actor, but again, you have to understand that he's following someone that was PERFECT for the role, so those are tough shoes to fill. He's not that bad. His acting is good, it's just that his take on Dumbledore might be a little different than most.

R.I.P. Richard Harris

Yeah, deep down I know you're right. I do have respect for Michael, and I admit his introduction of Beaubaxton and Durmstang had me excited. His appearance would be so much better if they hadn't made him dull and gray with a hairtie in his beard... that's just odd.

Yeah, his spin on the Dumbledore character is a little weird, but it may fit the next few movies a little better than Harris' version.

The costume he uses makes him look a little derelict. They could spruce it up a little and then it would be fine.

Whoa, I looked him up on IMDb and he's going to be in the movie of Beowulf! They're actually making Beowulf into a movie (I know it's been mimicked in other movies, but they actually titled it Beowulf and all the characters are there).

Link. Robert Zemeckis is directing it! Niiice. I wonder if they're going to try and fill in the missing part of the story that was destroyed by fire... more than likely they'll probably just do a "40 years later..." kinda thing.

That's my analysis as well. Richard Harris had the whole Yoda thing going on. You knew he was very powerful, but he came across as weak and docile. This new guy is just putting too much into it. He should appear much more calm and low toned than he does.

Exactly. I was hoping Newell would direct him a little differently, but the previews indicate that he's still the same. Good actor, but not very Dumbledorian.

That's just the point. I wanted to see Harris pull off the fiery power of the progressive Dumbledore, because then it would be that much more powerful, you know? To witness the contrast. When it comes time for Michael to start showing the powerful side of Dumbledore, he might surprise me, I'm hoping he does.

And it may just be Harris's excellent performance of playing a beaten and tired old man, but everytime I watch The Count of Monte Cristo, I can just feel his age and fragileness. Especially in the tunnel digging scenes, he seems so winded and struggles to do the scene. And he dies 2 years later :(. Again it may have just been his acting abilities that portrayed it so well.

That was a great trailer. Thanks.

I'm really hoping they don't screw up the movie because it is my favorite of the books so far.

i dunno, when i read the books, i always saw dumbledore as an old spry man, which i think gambon has down. harris had the wise old wizard, head of the wizengamot down though. if you can merge the two, then you'd have a great dumbledore.

i loved richard harris in the count of monte cristo though.

:D. They have to keep up with production so the young actors don't get too old for their parts. And I just hope their agents don't start demanding too much money and forcing the producers to recast the major stars. Last I knew they hadn't signed on yet for Order of the Phoenix.

Edit: Just checked IMDb, it looks as though the three main actors have indeed signed on for the 5th movie.

Dan Rancliffe (Harry Potter) has been confirmed for Order of the Phoenix.
Dunno about anyone else.

It would suck if the other two stars left. There is a higher chance the girl will leave because she started out as an actress right, so she may aspire for better roles than Harry Potter. Hope they all stay on.

Well I'm pretty sure IMDb only posts info if it's been confirmed, and if it hasn't they put (UNCONFIRMED) next to it. So hopefully the data there is correct. They don't have Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) up yet... hmmmm...

On a site I read...there's a is 50 percent chance Draco Malfoy will be in it....

(which is kinda low....it had 80-95 percent for the 3 main kids)

Draco Malfoy is around 21 I think. So you never know...

Tom Felton is turning 18 at the end of this month, not quite 21 but it is indeed a little too old for the progress of the films. Draco isn't even 18 in the books yet.

Have you ever seen Smallville? Tom welling was like a 24 year old playing a freshman in high school
