Ziff Davis is like an insatiable monster. I'm glad there are Ziff-free zones like AnandTech available :)

That site looks forumla, just like all their publications. They are "Passionately Committed To Technology" because someone told them they should be - bleh :disgust:

The remarks were made by the Register, not Extremetech.com. Extremetech just looks like the corporate boys are trying to get into the web based market, now that their paper publications are really old stuff. The whole technology moves way too fast to shove bound paper "news" through the distribution chain.

OTOH, the Register was at least partly right when they took a shot at < cough > Tom's place. (Oooh -- I didn't really mention that place, did I?) ;)

You really think ZDnet is more childish than the notes in this section? You gotta be kiding. Sort of like an idiot calling another idiot an idiot.

How about that Extreme Tech banner ad? They know what the best tech site is, that's why they're advertising here

I'd much rather read reviews from sources that I trust like Anandtech. Plus, who knows what kind of corporate connections or sponsorships these guys will have? If they're affiliated with ZDNet, maybe there'll be some conflict of interest with investors/advertisers?

Bottom line: I trust Anandtech and a few other home-grown hardware sites to provide me with fair, unbiased reporting (as fair and unbiased as reporting can be) of up-and-coming products. Any new site, especially with such corporate connections, will take a while to win that kind of support from me.

So, what time are we hacking into their site? ;)

Yeah, I gotta say that it's really a busy website. Also, for having 30 staffers, they don't have much content yet. (I don't care if the site just launched) I couldn't even find anything about the SiS chipset that Tom has already done a fairly comprehensive review on. (And I bet they won't have the balls to do a million page review of something and go into full detail like Tom did with the geForce3)

If it were a movie it would go straight to video.

that's amusing, becase TechTV is owned by ZDnet and they praise anandtech for being one of the leaders on Tech info!

I'm sure just about everyone here has visited a whole bunch of tech sites, some of which provide excellent info. Anandtech has been here since the start though, and I trust Anandtech (specifically Anand as well) a heck of a lot more than some big corporation.
