New Hard Drive Setup

Hello, I have a few questions about how to set up my two Western Digital drives. One will be a 200 gb drive. First, I am buying the newer version of XP with SP1 built into it. So, when I install XP will it be able to format the entire drive right away, or does the WD drive come with some software that I HAVE to use first (I am waiting to open it as I want to be sure I'm going in this direction)? I know my motherboard supports huge drives, so perhaps then the Windows setup should be able to handle it on its own? My other question is, I know the WD 200 gig 8mb drive comes with a PCI card, but for now I want to have that drive and another WD drive on my primary ide and my dvd and cd on the secondary. It's always said that the ide channel will run only as well as the slower device on it. However, having only a 2mb cache drive as the slave won't hold back the master as they are still both ata-100 and 7200rpm, correct? I had also bought a 100 gig SE drive and was going to use that for programs and later get the 200 SE for data, but I'll probably return it (assuming my belief about mixing with a two meg cache version is accurate) and just get another 200 or greater once I can get another deal on one or I "need" it :)

When you boot from the Optical Drive (CD) then Win XP will ask if you want to format the drive in NTFS so if that's what you want then you're good to go...and as far as the IDE Master/Slave question that is for older sytems and is no longer true, however some may disagree. just make sure you update the drivers and use proper cables.
