The government has used aerial photos to locate marijuana grows. They can also be used to locate say other things, how about building projects that didn't pay the city or county the correct licensing fees or permits. Those people that do such things may very well be in the wrong, but using satellite imagery to circumvent proper warrants isn't something to champion.

Good points. I think, based on those, that I'm going to try to get those outlawed in KY as well. And since the internet, TV, CB radio, telephone and many other useful civilian tools have also been used, I think I'll also try to get those banned too. I mean, if the law can use any of those items to spy on someone, it should be banned, right?

My fair county pays big bucks for high-res areal images (4in resolution currently) to use in code enforcement and tax assessment. The county matches time series images to determine if someone added any additions to their houses so they can nail them for taxes. Bastards. Note to folks building custom homes: Always provide large porches that can be enclosed with no visible changes to the roof.
