Seems to me that they learn just fine. It some of us who don't.

The Dems learned from Iraq that they could stand up and act tough (when popular), beating their chest and calling for Saddam's removal. Then, when that became unpopular they could revise history and wash their hands of it. And most people bought it.

They've learned that even though in the majority, they can still fund the *war*, and be *excused* for it cuz they dont have enough of a majority etc.

They're gonna permit GWB to do this, claim that they didn't and all the guilables will believe them.

No, they've learned real real well. The not learning thingy rests elsewhere.

There was a time when Americans weren't so deeply asleep and this attacking Iran would cause a revolution. I really do think at times what what Washington needs is some tempering of metal by facing millions of pitchforks. Americans are going to have to start causing trouble or their ass is going to be in another war.

I don't think you understand. The democrats are popular because they are currently against the war. Their popularity has nothing to do with how they originally voted on the Iraq War.

Their ass is too fat to get off the couch, they won't be grabbing any pitchforks any time soon.

Actually, I think he does understand and the democrats are not against the war, for if they were they would be voting against the war's teet, which happens to be money. They do not because the stupid populous associates this with not supporting the troops or something equally asinine. The dems have a majority in congress and a hated president with hated foreign policy and yet they are actually voting shockingly in line with allowing continuity of the source of hate. Heck, we call it a two party system but it's really 1.5 parties.

it doesn't surprise me...

my parents have already started preparations to bring some of our family members from iran to the united states... they also paid money to the iranian government to get our relatives out of the service. in iran, whenever a boy turns 18, they have to do like 4 years of military service, unless you pay your way out (because that's what terrorist organization members do... they get drafted unwillingly, right? iran's military = 18-22 year old kids who don't care about the government who got forced into service = terrorist organization? what the fuck?). we recently got one of our cousins over and he's in the process of learning more english and trying to find a job. we're trying to bring more of our relatives over so our military doesn't kill them.

anyone see the irony?

WE'RE calling IRAN'S military a terrorist organization... some of you might not get the irony or might not want to get it because it might be a bit of a bitter pill to swallow.

It's post like this that I can sympathize with.
The guy is Iranian, and he loves his country like most people would like their countries. I can understand his pain and fear for his family and seeing what that fanatic regime of Iran is driving his beloved country into.

I also don't blame him for hating the U.S. we are a part of the problem for his people, and I think we should do as much as possible to make sure people like him (or his family in this case) don't get hurt as a result of what we need to do.

Eventually, once we get rid of that threat, Iran will be a better place for Iranians, not only for the rest of the world.

IIRC Iran used to be a thriving modern country under the Sha'a (if that's how it's spelled) until mid 70's when the Muslim revolution devastated that country.
I really hope Iran can become a normal country again once this is over.

I will bet my life savings that eits does not hate America.

& Iran's economy has actually improved under the Iranian Islamic Regime (GDP growth with 50% less oil revenue). I guess that's what happens when you stop spending 35% of your GDP to build a military empire capable of taking on the Soviet Union.

Iran's economy has not stopped because of Islam. It has stopped because of U.S sanctions. Remove U.S sanctions and Iran will skyrocket. In doing so that guarantees the Islamic Regime will stay in power for many years to come.

... waits for someone to call me pro-Islamic Iranian Regime because I yet again stated facts.

you really live up to your name, don't you?

i'm not iranian and it's not my country... i'm persian. my dad was born in iran.

unless, of course, if by "u.s.," you really mean our current government and if by "his people," you really mean americans... then, you're spot on.
