More info on the gun:
Bought it at a local shop today. Wasn't planning on buying anything but when I saw it and the price I decided to go for it. Consider it an early b-day present to myself.

It is in excellent condition from what I can tell (I'm no expert though).
Very minor wear on the tip of the barrel and on the side edges of the trigger guard, and some light wear on the frame in front of the trigger guard.

Cylinder locks up pretty tight, barrel looks good. DA trigger is smooth and crisp, and pretty light compared to other DA triggers I've used. SA is even shorter and smooth and light.

I paid $419 + tax and all the other fees that go with it. I wasn't sure if it was a good deal or not. I checked gunbroker and gunsamerica when I got home and it the lowest price I saw for one was $475. Prices seemed to range from 475 to 800+ so not sure what the discrepancy is. most of them were 6" barrels though. Anyway, I like it and it was a good price for me, so I guess that's all that really matters.

Nice looking piece. Not a fan of Colt double action triggers though. They have a 2 stage pull, I prefer the smooth double action pull of Smith & Wesson revolvers personally.

And the only thing better than a S&W .44 Magnum with an 8" barrel is a .44 Magnum lever action rifle to go with it!

Tips for pics: Put the item on a white table cloth. Ideally inside a sunny room of the house, but with blinds partially closed so as not to let too much direct sunlight on the item.

Actually, I chose to use a dark brown, cuz it contrasted the light metal. This was taken outside, but in the shade. Worked well for a shitty Sony camera.

not sure. i know it appears to have been originally purchased in 1985 by the previous owner. I read they stopped making them in 1982. I'd have to do some research to find out.

I had one. Never shot it much actually. The .44 Magnum is sooo much more fun to take to the shooting range. Really gets everyone's attention when you touch off one of those rounds.

I have to admit though, .357 Magnum makes a nice boom at the shooting range too.

Some folks consider shooting a .44 Mag or larger at an indoor range to be rude. I don't much care, it's a shooting range, it's supposed to be loud.

It is fun to see everyone pause shooting when I drop the hammer on my .454 Casull though, it sounds like the Earth is ending at an indoor range.

Seriously? I've owned guns for nearly 2 decades and I've never heard anything like that.

It's a shooting range...people shoot guns there...guns that go boom. I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was the pansy-ass shooting range. Maybe you could direct me to the gun range where people don't get scared when you fire a gun?

I've raised eyebrows at the guy in the lane next to me shooting a DE .50 at 20 feet...badly. But you have to expect the occasional hand cannon at a shooting range. Hell, people shoot 12 gauge shotguns at my local shooting range.

Yeah, I don't know what he's talking about. I get looks when I train fast shooting and mag exchanges (dump 16 in 10 seconds, slap in new mag). I'm there to train, not to see how well I can focus down the sites and gently squeeze the trigger.
