New guitar tracks recorded......

What did you do the sequencing/recording in? They sort of sound like happy versions of Slayer songs :) Pretty good, much better than I can play.

thanks, good call on the happy slayer. that sounds funny lol. anyways yea, I love the slayer shredding, but the evil shlt doesn't reflect on me well. I don't have their dimented issues i guess.

I used fruity loops as the sequencer. I got the drum samples from natural studio.com, which where free by the way. Some of the most amazing drum samples I have heard, in terms of recorded authenticity.

I then used a $15 best buy magix6 audio studio program to mix down the individual tracks, as well as record the raw guitar tracks. I have a carvin guitar and a Line 6 spider amp. I have an audigy 2 card with the line in on the front, so I run the line 6 amp direct via headphones jack to the line in on the pc. I have a little work todo regarding line noise, but its getting better.

i actually recorded them in a way that you can turn off the right or left channel and here only one guitar. This way you can hear how I played the indivual tracks.

Thanks for the tip on natural-sound.co.uk -- I am downloading the kit now in Soundforge format.

yea its great. they don't just give you a snare sample, they give many snare samples, broken down into right and left hands, different types of hits, like crossstick, and then different attack levels. You can totally articulate a snare roll that sounds real.

I have a sample CD called "Drumkit from Hell" which has all sorts of samples from a kit with different levels. It also has all the hits recorded from both the drum and room mics so you can mix the two for the effect you want. The natural studio one looks a little better though.

i don't think the ns samples are recorded from different mikes like that, but I know they used hella expensive equipment. They sound perfect. I usually just synthesize the effects on my pc.

nice work.

i've always meant to toy around with some of the low end sequencers, but it's just so tempting to grab the very same program that the likes of kmfdm are using.

I HATE THE DRUMS!! I HATE THE DRUMS!! Oh wait,
I sequenced the drums
forget that.
I'm diggin' the layering on latenightjam. Nicely done. I listen and keep waiting for the choir of earth-shattering detuned heavy crunch. good start there.

Umm...saturdayjam...were you feeling particularly bipolar on saturday? That one is nothing like the rest. I think I like that one the best though. It's eccentric and screams 'indie'. Strip the rythem track and add someone kickin' some ass on a Rhodes piano or something cool, -maybe a gong or finger bells--something weird--and you have something head-turning there.

heh, thanks. yes, its the same drum track for each mp3, sometimes sped up or slowed down.

what exactly is a Rhodes piano? is that a brand name like korg?

the point of these jams is to filter out the best material and reassemble it into a cd. my friend tim, who is the piano player, John Tesh's cousin, is heavy into Aphex Twin style mixing, and he will be adding alot of the post recording special effects, like bells, etc.

My crappy "PC sub" can't handle that kick drum (I think?). Otherwise, sounds great.
