New Guitar Lesson site- probably the best out there

Fritzo

Lifer
I get questions all the time both on ATOT and privately about where to get decent guitar lessons. I just found this new site:

Workshop Live

They give video lessons on any style for any skill level, and they have a good two dozen instructors you can choose from. I'm trying it out for a month and have to say not only are the lessons impressive, the site design is probably one of the best I've ever seen. This is exactly what I was looking for to brush up on my theory without shelling out $15-$25/week.

They gets Fritzo's famous Three Thumbs Up:

Hey, that's pretty neat. I like how they've designed the site. I'm looking through it now.

Edit: I was under the impression it was free from your post, 30 bucks/month isn't too bad though if the lessons are informative and easy to follow. They need free 30-day trial or something.

They give you a free lesson during the tour. That's what sold me. It's the next best thing to a live instructor just half the price. Can't wait to really dive in tomorrow 🙂

Yeah, I really did get much from the free lesson, it was in a small window. Let me know how you like it.

Wonder how it is for keyboards...I can't see the site being too helpful. It is pretty cheap, but probably better just to get real lessons.

OK, first night really using the site and I'm even more impressed today than yesterday. The lessons are excellent, detailed, and being able to choose different teachers really makes a difference. I really like how you can pop up chord, tab, and music charts during the lessons too.

You get access to backing tracks to play along with your lessons and a song library too. Very cool. A couple of guys at work signed up today. This is about the closest thing you can get to live lessons 🙂

I will also be signing up...just need to get my guitar tuner 1st

The site has a tuner.

are you limited to just the 1 instrument? or can you switch in between guitar and keyboard? I play both, and lessons would be nice.

I think you choose one or the other. Can't find a place to switch.

hmm, i've been really wanting to jump back into my guitar, this might be an excellent way to do so, used to take lessons for $18/week O.O this will be a good deal.

It looks cool, I stopped taking lessons as soon as I started to go to college, and my parents were paying $25/week for private lessons... I'll try this out.

i hope they do those woodwind lessons soon, i play the sax too and quit because the band teacher was a tool, yet near everyone in the band loved him because he was better than the last guy that quit the year i moved here, so the guy thought he was god, I would like to keep playing my sax though, and my guitar, i think i'll be signing up for this tomorrow, the lessons look nice, plus the numerous other resources available

 for you fritzo!

Well, you seemed to have made believers of everyone here, what a bunch of gullible bastards.

You got me interested too though 😛 - Don't suppose they can interact with keyboards in anyway through MIDI ports?

I don't know...haven't tried the keyboard lessons (don't have a keyboard either 🙂 ).

Okay, I was hijacked and now I can see the demo. Looks very interesting. I pay $15 a lesson, once a week, so this is not a bad price. If you pay by the year it is a great price.

I keep meaning to go through it, but I can't seem to find the time.. Anybody besides Fritzo try it? I'm a gunna, but I'd like to hear other reviews.

I'm pretty much an absolute beginner and checked this site out and tried the free sample lessons. Well, the only beginner lesson that was free was extremely basic and not really much of a lesson. Everything else was way too advanced. So it really did a poor job of selling me on the site. I was thinking of signing up prior to that, but now I'm less sure. Any true beginners try it out yet?

I will sign up for a month at least and give this a shot.( on a buisness trip right now)..I used to play bass many years ago and just bought an electric guitar in Nov
