New GPU

ok so i am trying to sell my 9600GSO for $60 and my birthday is saturday and i will be getting $55 so i will have $115 and was wondering can i get a better GPU for 115?

Buy a used card. You should be able to score a 4870 512 mb for about that.

Around $115 you are looking at a slightly used 5770 or a used 4870 1GB. Those are your best bets.

For new cards, perhaps a 5750 or a GTS 250 1GB.

There's nothing new that will be worth what you can get used. Used 5770 is quite possible. Probably the best budget gaming card if your rez stays 1080 (might struggle with AA).

Dont let your birthday dictate your hardware shopping!....

i just cant understand people who buy last gen tech unless its the high end last gen tech. in your case it would mean a gtx275 or hd4870/90.

You are out of the dx11 game, no tessalation (among other things) for you in any games (imagine settlers 2 like game with cozy huts with tesselated roof.. etc.etc..)

I'd go new GTS250 or used Radeon 5770, preferably the used Radeon 5770.

People buy last gen tech because it's usually cheaper for a given level of performance, and usually the new tech's features haven't gotten important enough yet.
