new gpu help

If you can overclock your CPU, no.
If you dont overclock your CPU and game at 1080p ,yes but not that bad.
If you game at 1440p ,no.
If you game at 4k, no.

no overclocking only 1080p
Some games will be worse than others, but its not a major bottleneck.
A gtx1080 will run any game very well at 1080p.
You might want to save for a new cpu/motherboard in 2019 and you still will be good with the gtx1080 at 1080p.
If your getting a good deal, go ahead buy it.
What are you using now for a gpu?

I am using gtx770 but 2 gb feels really low even for battlefield 3 i have win 10 now it sucks fps drops

agree with a happy medium, buy a QHD/+ card (1070, 1080) as a stepping stone to replacement of the CPU + mobo + RAM

That or the upcoming GDDR5X 1060 6GB or 590 that are replacing the current FHD crop. Should be able to alleviate the bottleneck somewhat and OC to 4.2 minimum, it would be approximately equal to i3-8100, Ryzen 3 1200

Putting an i7-2600K/2700K/3770K in there might buy a bit of longevity too
