New Google Maps feature: "Drag the blue line to change your route."

I just discovered that today also. Very cool feature.. the trip planning feature rocks too.

Hmm, I don't seem to be able to drag the line. Anywhere I click, clicking and dragging just pans the view. What am I doing wrong?

Awesome, I was just wishing I could do this literally 10 minutes ago. I just went back and changed my route, good looking out.

I heart teh googles.

That is freaking awesome! Just last week I was wishing someone would do something like this!

hah thats awesome. I always wondered the EXACT mileage of the other route I take home.

questoin though ... what is the yellow pointer thingie w/the pause sign in it? what does that stand for?

It's like a checkpoint of some sort. You can click and drag it as well, or right click for more options.

It's got a couple annoyances that I don't like. Such as if you remove the "pause" destination after moving, it zooms you back out to the entire route. This is annoying if you accidentally make a mistake, now you have to zoom back in again and fix it. In my opinion, it should stay at the location.

You can also move around your starting point and destination. I mapped my route to work, but the address is to the main office and not the building I work in. I was able to drag the marker to where I work and it recalculated the route.

now if only it will tell me the shortest way to go from work, to any chase bank branch, to any whataburger (or vice versa) and then to home

edit: now i see exactly how long my exercise route is

If you use picasaweb, google added a feature that allows you to map your photos to where your pictures were actually taken. For example, you can drag/drop photos from the Strip in Vegas onto the google map view of the Strip. So, when your friends check out your picasa page, they get a map view of your photos. Very neat!
