Also very frustrating to click on Compose & wait, and wait, and wait for the box to pop up :p

they have feedback link on their page ... probably just delete it without reading it ... but ... maybe if X number of people complain about a defect in their page, they might tweak/tune something to make it less bad?

Yep, sucks, getting to wait for the login.
As a bonus, a few times now, I've searched my email for something only to just have the "Loading" box show up and then nothing. Before search pretty much always came back instantly.

loading image seems to take longer now....before it seemed like 1-2 seconds and now about 3-4 seconds...just rough guesses though...

The loading screen doesnt bother me that much, although it takes a couple of seconds for the little icon to display. I just dont like the look of the pages, seems like the messages all run together. A couple of changes are nice though, the easy way to recall a sent message, and the way the attachments show up better.

With the new design, hitting the delete all link at the top on my spam box doesn't always work the first time and I'll have to check all the boxes next to all the spam then hit delete.

Also, hitting the refresh button above the mailbox often doesn't do anything and I end up having to press the browser's refresh button instead.

It's much slower - at least in my experience thus far. Which, in today's world is just not acceptable. Things should be getting faster. Google decided to bog down and make their flagship "product" less attractive for no apparent reason.

new gmail is very javascript heavy -- so your browser and machine make a bigger difference

I turned off Ublock Origin for Gmail & it doubled the speed...but it's still slow. Lame. Gmail was always crazy zippy :(

Gmail absolutely destroys the late-2011 MacBook Pro I recently acquired. The fans start spinning, the system gets hot, and a message appears within that Safari tab to warn me that the site is "using an excessive amount of energy" (paraphrasing).
