New glass shower door question.

4' total, door with the side panel on a 3'x4' cultured marble stall. It's clear glass where the old one was translucent. Wife thinks I'm supposed to squeegee it off every time I get out of the shower. WTH? Is there something I can put on it, like rain-x, so the water will shed on it's own?

For what it cost, the damn thing ought to clean itself.

Is it real glass or plastic?

My 5'x4' shower has glass for 2 walls and I never wipe the water off when I am done and it looks fine to me.

Glass. $1100 worth of glass.😱

I'm with you on the "looks fine" but what does the missus say about it? Mine says clean it.

My wife also wipes if after she uses it. But for me I leave it be. She wants it wiped down thats on her.

I do go over it with glass cleaner every now and then, maybe once a month. But thats it.

We've used their "Touch of Oranges and Touch of Beeswax" products on our wood furniture and cabinets for over 10 years.

I've only tried their Shower door product once. (free samples) It worked very nicely...but it's not a high priority for us because we have textured glass in our showers...and the water spots aren't as obvious. 😛

Thanks. Bookmarked. Think I'll try the rain-x 1st. 16oz $8 with amazon prime. If it doesn't work, I'll use it on the autos.

Shower doors are a freaking joke. $1000+ for a piece of glass you have to clean every couple days if you want it decent looking. Plus you have account for room to open them. And don't even get me started on the abomination that are the sliding door things that get disgusting in the tracks and are even more of a pain in the ass to get in and out of.

My wife was all worked up to spend a couple grand on a door for our shower in our new house. She couldn't figure out what she wanted and now we just have a $5 curtain hanging on there. I couldn't be happier.

🙂

That's for sure. At least, the in laws paid half (Christmas).

Is she telling you to squeegee it because it's getting water spots on it?

I have a set of sliding door which I installed when I redid the bathroom. Now I'd love to rip them out with a baseball bat because as mentioned the tracks are a nightmare to keep clean and the fake plastic door glass spots up like no tomorrow.

Was thinking of swapping that out for what you have, frameless glass doors, but if it's the same water spotting boat I'll pass.

BTW, I tried Rain-X and it works for a few weeks and then seems to wear off. Maybe to much heat...

Spots/soap scum. A few weeks has got to be better that wiping it every day (X2 most of them because of the gym). I'll try rain-x first and if she's not happy, I'll go with what Boomer posted.

The translucent one was fine, imo.
