Just saw this on CNET:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001G8Y3RG

$149, 5 plates, comes in black, platinum, and red. Pretty pricey for an indoor electric grill (I think my mini one cost $14?). Looks like it's getting good reviews. Oh, and...

ADJUSTABLE TEMPERATURE!!!

I wonder if it'd be better than the current crop of removable-plate grills...I got one of the square ones with 5 plates and it was terrible, it basically just steamed the food. My brother got the same one, same deal. This one has 106 sq. inches of cooking area and is round, which is nice. The video showed that it has an angle adjustment - flat for cooking, angled for grilling. I use either my big or little GF grill almost daily, but they're both the older non-removable plate models...wonder if these are better at heating. Anyone have one?

Way to much going on there for a George Foreman. The one I have works great without any of the fancy crap. Put food on, close lid, take food off, enjoy.

My big question is whether or not it really gets hot enough to sear and cook the food. I had the 5-plate square model and it was terrible. Steamed burgers is what it cooked - disgusting. My brother's did the same thing. I don't know if the 1-plate removable model was any better. $150 is pretty expensive for a dinky electric grill, but I do use mine daily (the cheap ones) and I HATE cleaning them. If this actually gets hot enough to really cook the food, then it might be worth the price for dishwasher-safe removable plates. I typically do my cooking for the day at about 5:00am in the morning, so the more convenient, the better!

Same here I also think they are a *itch to clean (I had to throw one out because The black coating was coming off of it) and that plastic spatula it comes with is a piece of S**t

I have this.

I got it for quite a bit cheaper than that, though I don't remember how much..it definitely does the deed and it comes with grilling and griddling surfaces.

Oh, and it definitely gets hot enough.

i own the (old) mini grill and it was ok for making chicken breasts, but eventually it's a pain in the butt to clean. i don't like to simply wipe it down with a cloth, because i've always cleaned my cookware with water n soap. so what i'd do is hold the grill under a runnin faucet and wash it... it was troublesome.

it looks like, for this new model, they made those grill plates removable. so maybe it could be a lot easier to clean.

Cleaning the GF grill is easy. While the plates are still hot, hit them with cold water and a scrub pad in the sink. Then wipe up any remaining grease with a paper towel. Takes about a minute.

I browsed through the reviews on my lunchbreak today. Most are positive, but of course the negative ones are always the most telling. From what I gathered, it still suffers from the same problems of the previous removable-plate models - crappy latches, not hot enough, and uneven heating. Plus apparently the temperature control isn't all that accurate and the baking pan is useless. The crappy latches also seem related to the pans warping over time.

What I really need is a built-in grill with a good vent :D

If it really was the Roomba edition, it should deliver the food to you when it's done cooking.

I got the cheap-ass GF Grill and love it. I don't use it very often, but when I do Burgers or Steak it's perfect.

I never understood these---what's the difference between a George Foreman and a cast iron grill pan? (Besides one costing $19.99 and one costing $100+)?

Cooks both sides at once and lets he fat drip off. The fat part I could live without, but the way it cooks both sides is very nice.

Same. It's always been great with steaks for me.

Cooking AND cleaning? Wives are starting to look obsolete (obviously joking).

http://www.amazon.com/review/R...2SV/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm - See my review...I got one for xmas and I'm pissed. At first it seemed great then the plates stopped fitting. Now i have a massive useless paperweight because amazon wont let me return it and formen says i broke it whihc frankly i dont see how as none of the plates are fitting now due to something happening when it got hot.

We looked at all the George Forman grills and decided that none of them were what we wanted. The latest offering is cheap and flimsy. The non stick coating is rough and the coating is very thin. The older products were a little better constructed but not up to our standards. Cuisinart had some decent products but we were so put off by the GF that decided not to buy anything.

I just bought the Griddler Jr. I can't wait to use it. We had a George Foreman about five years ago, but haven't used one in an eternity.

Removable plates for cleaning! WOOHOO!
