New gaming PC feedback please

Like the topic says I am in the process of building a new gaming PC. The one I'm currently using is over 7 years old so I'm doing a complete over haul.

Purely a gaming PC and to watch movies

not looking to spend more then 2 grand

Everything Im buying is from the USA

I prefer Intell Nvidia and WD

I don't plan on using anything except my keyboard mouse and monitor

I have no intentions of over clocking.

My resolution will be 1920x1080

I'm hoping to build this within 2 weeks

I don't need windows I do need a player I have listed one in my components.

All this runs to about 1500. Just wondering if all this is decent for what I'm spending. I haven't really done this in a long time. My goal was to stay under 2000 and have a power PC that will last for several years without many upgrades.

One more: do you have a Microcenter nearby?

GPU Those are quite noisy, only get cards with dual fans. Also 1080p@60hz doesn't benefit much from two graphics cards, just get one MSI GTX 770 Gaming $400 and leave the SLI option open
CPU don't buy a last gen CPU, get the 4670K $220 or 4770K $330 instead
Mobo a midrange board with SLI support is enough for your needs, e.g. Asus Z87-A $145
RAM you won't need more than 2x4GB of RAM for gaming, you'll still have the option to add more later
HDD WD Blue is currently faster than WD Black, you only buy Black for the warranty. But the 2 year warranty on the Blue drive is fine and it costs less
Sound I don't think you need a sound card, but if you do want one I'd recommend an Asus Xonar over anything by Creative. In addition, you won't benefit from a sound card unless your sound setup or headphones are high enough quality - what is your sound setup?
Cooler That Zalman is overpriced. Get something like an Arctic i30 $30.
PSU eXtreme Powers are pretty terrible, there's no point getting a mediocre quality cheapo unit to power $1.5K worth of hardware. Here: XFX 750W XXX Bronze $55 AR AP
Case Way, way way overkill for your needs, ridiculously expensive too. Here: Corsair 500R $70 AR AP

SSD Where is the SSD? You absolutely want an SSD. Samsung 840 256GB $165

And finally... don't try to future proof your PC by buying overkill components. PC components lose value quickly. Paraphrasing our board member ken g6 here: the best way to future proof is to save money and spend it on future products.

A 1080p gaming rig shouldn't cost more than a bit over $1K, the rest of your budget should be used for upgrades. A balanced upgrade cycle for a gaming rig is usually like this: GPU upgrade every 1-2 years, CPU+mobo upgrade with every other GPU upgrade, the rest as needed. Case and PSU should last 5+ years, RAM may need upgrading along with the CPU/mobo.

 Agree wholeheartedly. If you really want to spend more money, grab high quality input devices eg. a mechanical keyboard.
