So, I am in the market for a new gaming machine. I have an old P4 and it just won't cut it. I have put this off for a while but I feel now is the time. I did a little bit of research then went to MC and bought everything. After I bought it all I was doing some more research and found this [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]great [COLOR=blue !important]site[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]. I am waiting to put anything together until after Monday, because MC is going to test and install the [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]CPU[/COLOR][/COLOR], mobo, RAM, extra CPU Cooler, and thermal paste. Here is a list of what I have bought so far.

Kinda figured this was a good bang for the buck. Use the cheaper 1156 Socket, save $$ on the mobo, and still have the Hyper- Threading if some games start to use it more in the future.

I know the reviews on newegg say the board wouldn't POST I'm not worried as MC will be testing it before I take it home. It is a Micro but I won't have too many more things going on the board besides a sound card someday. I got this board for $90 so if I decide to SLI in the future I won't feel to bad about just getting a new board.

I have read that the mobo says it will not support CORSAIR but people have said that it works. Looks like good cheap RAM.

Got this for $160. I always think SLI is neat but have never done it. If the price of this card drops low I might pick another one up, but I will have to get a new mobo.

I'm still not very sure about this one. I got it for $100 at MC, which isn't too bad. I know I can get an 860 or 750 from the Egg for just a little more but I'm not sure if I want to wait any longer because I already have everything else. The 650 will probably be okay for now but if I want to upgrade to a new video card in the future I'd like to not have to buy a whole new PSU to get one.

I can get the 850 and 750 at MC for $150. The 850 is $130, after rebate, from the Egg. The 750 is $100 after rebate and free shipping, from the Egg but again I'm not sure how long I would have to wait for it. So if I decided to buy one from MC I would keep the one I have and wing it or get the 850 as the difference is less between the Egg and MC.

My friend said to get the OEM as it is cheaper and is the same. Didn't see much advantages for the $$$ to get the bigger ones.

Since I bought this all at a store I can return anything I like. I already took back a 750 to get the 860. I'm glad to know I did ok but I still have a few questions about it: ATI over the 260, the PSU, is the case to small for the CPU cooler, HD and RAM.

650W is already inching into overkill territory for your current system. Don't worry about getting a higher wattage PSU, keep the current one and enjoy the better efficiency.

Not sure what yasasvy is on about with regard to the 650TX, it's Seasonic-built and top-notch quality.

True, 650TX is a good PSU but there are better options. The basis for this is that 650 TX is a 80+ certified whereas, the antec I suggested is 80+ bronze.

Based on the review from silentpcreview

Its voltage regulation is excellent, its acoustics very quiet, and its efficiency very good. The AC ripple on the 12V is bit higher (only at full power) than we've seen from Corsair models in the past, but still within the ATX12V spec.

Both PSU's are good but I think antec is better but underrated.

Edit: Me too think this is overkill unless you plan to SLI or cfX

And both offer 5 year warranty.

Infact I suggested honda(PSU, culprit) 650TX because he wanted a PSU for $80 whereas, OP has more head room.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't se myself doing SLI or Crossfire but I would like to make sure that my PSU can support a video card upgrade or two. Think it will? The antec was suggested to me and I know that is a good PSU but Corsair was cheaper from MC.

Think the RAM is ok? I have a choice to get some better Muskin RAM but it will cost me an extra $50. I'm not sure if the price is worth the added performance or even if I will notice a perfomance.

ATI 5770 and be done with it. 650w is mild overkill, especially with no SLI/CFX, but you're paying for top quality like mfenn said. The XMS3 is just fine. I know a few running that kit (most others run G.Skill). And I didn't notice you picked the Antec TWO HUNDRED. Maybe it's just imo, but that thing is uglier than a black plague victim. Antec 300 or bust. You might be able to drop the PSU down to 500w if you wanted to, but pay attention to reliability before cost.

Yes, you'll be fine with any single-card setup for quite a while. The PCIe spec limits GPU power draw to 300W per card, including both power from the slot and power from the PCIe power connectors, so a 650W will be good for as long as we're using PCIe.

I'd say your cpu is way more powerfull than your videocard. Maybe you could consider i5 750 with something like an ATI 5850?

Cheapest 5770 I could find on the egg was $150. I got the ASUS one because I heard they and MSI have good OC tools. The ASUS after shipping from the egg is about $180 so I didn't feel to bad about the extra $20. Now I am looking at the 5850 from the egg for around $300. I game on a 22in samsung so will always use 16 x 10 res. So I suppose the 5770 will be fine for me for a while.

Whatcha think?

Should I get the ASUS 5850 for $290 shipped?

Or the ASUS 5770 for $170 shipped?

I game at 1680 x 1050 and won't change anytime soon.
