1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

Below $2000

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

Intel - Samsung

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Creative X-FI XtremeGamer (Regular PCI)
G15 Keyboard
Razer Copperhead Mouse
Samsung 225BW monitor
HP 8250 printer
Junky old speakers
Razer Barracuda Headset or Astro A40 Audio System
KVM Switch w/ 2 usb 2 ps/2 VGA

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Never been here before ;) jk

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Never overclocked before, but I think I'm ready to try it, but I will be asking your advice.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Christmas (order about 2 weeks b4)

------------------------------

I have noticed a deal at Newegg where I can get a Thermaltake 850w w0172ru for 180 minus %10 minus $50 rebate... so like $70 off... it is dual gtx 260 certified. The promo ends on wendsday so should i do it? Is that enough power? Will the cords be long enough since the P182 has the psu in the bottom?

The PSU would have plenty of power. Personally, I wouldn't drop $500 in video cards on a 22" monitor. A single 260 should handle that just fine - you'll be better off spending that extra $250 down the road to upgrade. If you do decide to go with a single video card, you could step the PSU down several notches.

If you're willing to spend $2000, I also have to wonder why you're going to continue to use crappy speakers with a pretty good sound card.

I have had the same computer for 3 years and havent upgraded anything. I replaced a PSU because it broke but thats it. I may upgrade the monitor, but probably nothing else. Also, I never really use my speakers i just use my headset, thats why i haven't upgraded them. I'm in a very awkward shaped, very small room and if i got speakers I would want surround, and that really wouldnt work well here.

Any idea on the cable lengths?

Thanks for your quick response.

Don't know off the top of my head on the cable lengths. If you don't get an answer here after a couple days, you might try asking in the PSU or Cases forums.

As far as not upgrading, that's your call, but in a year or so a single card will beat SLi 260's. That's just the way it goes. All I'm saying is that you get a much better return on that second $250 in one or two years than you do right now.

Ok, I think i will get my power supply tonight. I read user reviews about the lengths and they said they were pretty short for larger case designs like the P182. So, I think I will get a 1ft extension cable for both the 24pin ATX connecter and the 8 Pin cpu connecter ($8 total).

Also, does anyone have any advice about a processer fan?

Newegg has the Thermaltake V1 AX in stock, but how good is it? Seems kinda flashy but doesnt look like there is a lot of surface area. The Vigor fan looks more robust, but it's out of stock. I can't find any review on either of them.

Should I just wait on the CPU fan?

i noticed Quietpc.com has the Noctua and Thermalright, for about $70 (what is the shipping?)

I really want to spend about $50 on the CPU fan. +$10 is ok.. but +$20 is a little too much. (Someone gave me $50 to spend for Christmas and they want it shipped to them.)Does anyone know if i could get it cheaper somewhere else?

Alright, I'm going to go order the Thermaltake W0172RU from Newegg.
Also, I will be ordering the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 RT 1366 CPU cooler from CrazyPC.com

Anybody think that's a bad idea? Be quick I'm ordering very soon (<1 hour)
