I was not speaking of Halo PC. Halo on Xbox runs incredibly well with no slowdown except in exceedeingly rare circumstances(maybe once in 50 game play sessions). Coop has some slowdown, but of course, we were speaking of one player. Same with Halo 2, single player has near flawless gameplay. The "texture disappearing and reappearing" issue is one that has nothing to do with the system's capabilities. Bungie has made a statement about this problem. They stated that they could have eliminated the pop in, however, load times would be increased by a large amount. They have decided that the game was more enjoyable with some pop in and no load times rather than loading often.(You will notice that if you play Halo 2, it will have the initial load screen, then will never have another load screen through the entire campaign as you are playing)

in halo2 multiplayer, my friend's 360 lags like a mofo with ~8 players

Perhaps bad emulation? I have played 16 player matches, as well as have four people on one Xbox and connect online to others and still have steady framerates.

Lazy? NO

They simply have a target low end machine and design for that from the beginning. Comapnies estiamte hardware 5 years down the road when starting new engines today. That's how it works. And if you can't ru na game, get used to it. Your PC will eventually be obsolete.

Can't remember the game (BF2?) but when I did the install it asked be to fill out a poll of what vid card, how much memory, etc. Then it shows you the results, and it was a fat bell curve with 9800 smack in the middle at the time. Anyone know where to find some current results of a similar nature?

There will always be less dedicated gamers that aren't willing to pony up the extra cash for top of the line. Some overclockers are working with the latest and greatest, but alot are fiddling around trying to extend the useful life of their hardware so they can wait a little longer for prices to come down. Or burn it up so they Have to buy new. >> It's about time y'all got a taste of my medicine.:brokenheart:

Yeah when I am running around blasting everything in sight, as I noticed in FarCry, I don't really spend the time to slow down and appreciate the detailed beauty. I barely do in real life. Even though I live in Tahoe. Buy some boots doods.

Valve did a big survey, lots of results, lots of their gamers are low-end still.
