new games freezing..

It seems like DirectX games are the ones freezing because Counter-Strike 1.6 plays fine but HL-2 and Guild Wars crash after 10 minutes.. Running:

AMD AM2 X2 3800+
2048 Corsair DDR2-667
MSI k9mm-v
XFX 6600GT 8x agp
windows vista/xp
380w Antec

hiload temps-

cpu 52c
gpu 82c

games run great until they crash...

i formatted and got diff drivers too.

More likely to be o/h vid card.

CPU on my sys shows up as 45C at boot - might be the dodgy ABIT BIOS though.
I would be happy anything up to 55C, and at full use upto 65C.

Maybe I'm just a wacky liberal, or maybe I like a cooked cpu for brekky

80 does sound a little high though.
Also, at what temp do you have the cutoff set at, in the BIOS?

not at all... i had to change my heat sink.. and replace the system fan.

well i live in a hot environment. (saudi arabia) and i cant keep the A/C's on all the time... it would kill me in the elec. bill!!!

but yea.. i had heat issues.. probably my h/w was fragile and old..i really dont know .. but i did have situations where my PC refused to work .. once i changed the heatsink and the fan... eveything became normal.

this doesnt mean you are having the same issue... im just trying to tell you not to overlook the simplest things.

Thats a bit toasty for the video card, but overheating should not affect only DX games, try reinstalling DX and then reload your gpu drivers

your cpu temp is perfectly fine
