I think it looks awesome. Love the more Euro styling Ford is taking. Too bad a decked out version of it is probably pushing $40,000.

The current Edge Sport is over 40k already so I'd say that's pretty much guaranteed.

I really like the current Edge after spending a few weeks with them as rentals and it sounds like they fixed the one major issue (capacitive dash controls). The new Sport could be interesting is the mid range engine has approximately the power of the outgoing Sport.

Looks are definitely improved, but still looks like a soccer mom egg to me. I do like the sound of the ecoboost 2.7 though. I've had these as rentals and they are great family highway cars.

I liked the old one better. I dont think the new one is ugly, i just like the old look better. This one looks to much like the new Hyundai santa fe.

Somewhat agree. I like it though.

I wonder why the Explorer even exists after seeing this...

Explorer has the 3.5 liter ecoboost. This one only has the 2.7 liter ecoboost. Aside from that, with edge pricing over 40k, yeah, I don't see the need for two identical vehicles. Our 2013 Explorer Sport was around 43-45k with discounts.

3-row seating and it's a larger vehicle overall.

3rd row seating consists of two small seats that only kids under 10 can sit in comfortably. It also greatly reduces visibility with the headrests and makes the back have no room to carry anything of substance. Can't put a cooler in there. You could possibly carry a bag of golf clubs.. possibly.

That's a nice looking vehicle. Perfect for those that think the Escape is too small and the Explorer is too big.

If its going to have a new engine composition in it then I'd pass for at least a year. I hate buying the first new model year of anything especially with a new engine setup. That's why I waited a couple of years for my F-150 eco.

Makowski said the new 2.0 has a new block, redesigned cylinder head, Borg-Warner twin scroll turbocharger, revised fuel injectors and higher compression ratio. It weighs about 10 pounds less than the current engine.

The new head has three exhaust ports routed into a manifold that channels exhaust gas pulses from cylinders 2 and 3, and 1 and 4, separately into each scroll of the turbocharger. This reduces the time needed for the turbocharger to reach full speed. The result, Makowski said, is a more responsive vehicle.

Ford officials would not comment on the new 2.0’s power output, which will be rated higher than the current engine’s 240 hp and 270 pounds-feet of torque. “We don’t go backwards,” Makowski said.

Agree.

If you want three rows, the Flex is a MUCH better option vs. Explorer IMHO. 2 rows, and this is a much better option. Explorer is just crap...

The flex is Ford's answer to the Asstek. Its the most hideous vehicle out there. Had ZERO problems with our explorer. The 3rd row is fine to use if we need to bring a soccer friend home from practice, or take a neighbor's kid to the pool or something, but I wouldn't use it as a full time 3rd row seat. If you have more than 3 kids, the explorer is not for you, but it will seat 3 adults comfortably in the back (2nd) seat.

Geez. For a middle of the road domestic? Every time the wife mentions my taste in cars I just have to tell her to be glad I don't like SUVs.

I hate the Flex. However, it fills a niche and was made for a purpose. The original Ford designers (I work for Ford) said up front that the flex wasn't going to be a big seller. However there IS a group of people that very much likes the design. It's utility is unquestioned.

I dislike the new Escape's styling especially the rear. The Edge seems to have the same rear but the rest looks OK.
