open to suggestions. ive got most everything picked out. I think it looks pretty solid. Im slightly perplexed on memory speeds and what to get since my mobo supports several different speeds. Whats the best route to go. This will be mainly pc gaming starting out with wow and diablo 3 and going form there since thats all ive ever been able to play.

Thanks in advance

1600 or 1866 on the RAM. The rest are typically over clocked speeds, and getting matching DIMMs will mostly just mean paying a lot of money for minimal performance gains (memory speed past 1600 or so is mostly wasted.)

Thanks dave i really appreciate the input. Is there a particular set of ram youd reccomend, there are so many choices and id hate to get one with to big of a heat spreader or something due to lack of experience. Do you have any other suggestoins for my build. So far ive only bought the case and mobo with some thermal compound. Perhaps an optical drive or anything else, ive been out of this community for quite some time.

That set of parts is really expensive for the performance it offers. Take a look at the Midrange Builders Guide, where I give a full system with the same performance for $200 less (and that's not counting the parts you're missing like RAM).

In particular the cooler, motherboard, SSD, and PSU in your list are overpriced.

I may look into substituting for some stuff you have listed but I already have the mobo and case purchased.

Aside from me having 2 CPU coolers lol
Yeah but I imagine you'll do the 212 ?

Didn't look up the Antec PSU either, but most of the time they've been good here, have a CP-850 in this thing for many years now.

If we're going to get real critical I like Sammy EVO SSD's too, but I don't think it's that big of an issue these days.

And GSkill RAM and ASUS Mobos, but you can split hairs all nite.

Maybe not, if you're going to OC it.

I've always been an air guy myself and overclocked.

I like the NH-D14's if you've the room and going that route personally.

Just IMHO, I don't trust AIO's that much myself.

I'll leave it there, I'm sure you'll get more input.

Sometimes for me it comes down to who refurbished. I have only purchased manufacturer refurbished items with no issues. YMMV, but overall manufacturer returns from a reputable company are pretty safe bets. 3rd party returns I avoid.

This is a good list, much improved over the previous one. Probably the only thing that I would change is that you can get the Sapphire Tri-X R9 280X for $260 AR.

Was looking at reviews and they were saying it's an extremely long card and may not fit in a mid tower case which I've already purchased.

As MONG-Grel said, pretty sure the 212 cooler will be fine if you don't over-clock (much).

I'm considering maybe doing some basic over clocking with the use of the mobo but nothing real advanced. With my applications I shouldn't be needing anything over the too. Although I've been stuck with a phenom II x3 processor with onboard graphics on a laptop that gets hot wanna say the cup was n830 or something like that and around 2 ghz 5470 graphics. I'm sure this will be a night and day difference. I've had it for 3 or 4 years and played games on low. I've actually pulled the top of my laptop off to increase cooling. Not much else I can do for it.

Shouldn't be a problem - that case is huuuuge.

Agree. The C70 can handle cards much longer than an ATX motherboard.

OP, the classic terms "mid tower", "full tower", and "mini tower" are so vague as to be useless nowadays. It's totally arbitrary what you call each case and it varies by manufacturer. Modern cases are designed with long cards in mind. You can stuff huge video cards into mini-ITX cases nowadays, it all comes down to the specific case in question.

Wow I got my case In today and you weren't kidding. It's huge. I thought it was gonna be even bigger when I seen the cardboard box. This thing would surely accommodate anythinf

So I'll probably be completing his build in the next 2 weeks. I've been wondering would the noctua nh-d14 cooler or the Cooler master 212 be a better one
