new firmware for pioneer dvr-105 burn ritek 1x at 2x

yeah,
sawit at FW, burning with it right now!!!!!
it rocks!

if anyone has the paypal adress of the creator, i think
i'll send a few bucks for it, too!

This new firmware also makes the drive region-free.
These guys are also working on a fimware that will allow you to burn at 4x on all media.

I think you'll burn lots of coasters and disks full of errors with at one, though.

guys, if you are burning Ritek 1x DVDr for PS2, do not burn them @ 2x! I just tried this and 3 out of 5 games fail to run on my V7 PS2 and I've never had anything fail before when I burnt the 1x rated at 1x speed.

That's odd since Ritek G03's are supposed to be rated at 2x.
I guess that's why Pioneer didn't put them in their own firmware.

Anyone else having problems with this in XP? Everytime I try it, it reboots my machine. I think I'm gonna try to boot into dos and try.

guys, i had bought the dvd drive from staples a month ago, how do i flash, do i unzip the file to the desktop and run upgdvd.exe - i have XP Pro - any help would be appreciated

yep.

Per the readme.txt file:
REALLY simple .. Follow the steps

1. Unzip
2. Doubleclick the .exe

hey, i would appreciate it if any of you fellow A05 owners would tell me whos ASPI layer you are using. I have the newest adaptec 4.71.whatever, and both stomp and advdinfo like to terminate with aspi errors. Wondering if everyone has had better success with a different layer.

duhh, i use stomp with aspi 4.71.2. i have many problems using nero with dvd's though.

if i were to flash my burner with this new firmware and discs started to fail since its a hack release and not official or even supported by pioneer directly, can you flash back to the firmware that came with the cendyne originally or are you stuck ?

the firmware worked for me, i'm able to burn lead data, universal, sony and ritek at 2x speeds, 30 mins per dvd as per 60 and not one error yet.. thanks for the link!!

Nice, thanks! 😉

Heh, if you think that is interesting, dig this. The DVR-x05 is actually +R write-capable too, so technically it would write DVD+R's and be dual format with a firmware upgrade. Unfortunately, chances are Pioneer won't buy the +R license [seeing as how that would be admitting +R is a standard :/], so the only way this'll happen is if someone writes the firmware themselves. 😛

Is the Code on those Lead Data's LD01? I just got a spindle of them via UPS today, but I cannot burn them with the new firmware as the RPC1.org forums are not working.

Check the media codes for Lead Datas at DVDrHelp.com . And for a tool to check it, get DVDInfo.. it's a really neat utility still in active development, and it doesn't even need ASPI on NT based OS's. It can even do full/quick erasurres on DVD-/+RW, and can eject the tray too : )

BTW, media codes are 'Show Complete Media Code' in that program. Highlight that then hit 'shot ASCII, and copy it to the clipboard if you want.
