When economic disparity is at an all time high isn't this even remotely disturbing to anyone in here? Check out the Forb's list you will find the Bankers on Wall Street who almost brought the US Economy to it's knees being rewarded handily. You will also see Oil Barons on the list whose companies get HUGE tax payer subsidization. I also noticed the heads of Big Insurance on there too it's enough to really piss off anyone who realizes how much our Government is bought and Paid for 🙁

I am not anti-Corporation. But can anyone out there explain to me how this can be healthy for our country when these people have the economic power to tip the scales in the favor by greasing the palms of our Congressmen/woman who supposedly represent us??

B u t , they create the wealth...they have to make too much money because they're the brightest and best at what they do, etc.

My salary went up 33% this year. I am not a CEO. Am I still evil?

My salary has gone up over 300% since I graduated from college almost 10 years ago. I guess I am just an asshole for continuing to make more and more money every year when there are still some out there making less and less. Maybe I should redistribute some of my salary to those that are making less and less to make things more "fair."

Maybe you shouldn't use anecdotal evidence in an unrelated job position to argue against nationwide trends.

Thanks for ignoring the subject of the OP which is out of control CEO pay.

No, you are obviously a hard worker, made good choices and lucky, yes you need all three to advance in these times.

But CEO pay here in U.S. is beyond ridiculous compared to any other country.

So if I was a CEO this is bad. I am not so it is good. Doesn't make sense when you want to cherry pick who gets to succeed and who doesn't.

If CEO salary didn't go up 28% then neither would the people who work for those CEOs. You can't ask for workers salaries to go up more than CEOs salaries. Does not compute.

You are really missing the entire point of this thread.

Seems quite clear that its another bash the rich and shit on the guys making all the money thread. They have all the power since they have all the money booohoohooness.

Sure isn't!

CEO compensation has risen at a rate far higher than both regular worker compensation and average corporate profits. This raises the idea that perhaps these people are not being compensated in relation to the value that they bring to the company, and might be more indicative of the insider club that tends to make up the corporate boards that set CEO pay simply rewarding each other, which would clearly be a problem.

But no, I'm sure they really provided 28% more value this year than last, and all the people who have a problem with it are probably just rich hating communists.

Big corporations and making good profit stacking up lot of money and investing in new infrastructures and workforce! they are doing great!! its just not happening in America... so why wont the CEOs get raise and bonuses???

Could have fooled me just now with the diatribe about backroom deals and the good ol' boys networking going on. So you are not part of the "club". Cry me a river. Maybe if people worried more about what THEY are making instead of some other guys we wouldn't be in half the messes we are in. Then again, this seems to be exactly what the left is all about.

Someone is always gonna be making more, so what, deal with it. I am happy I don't have to make decisions that could affect the livelihoods of thousands of other people and as such, I get paid what I deserve.

I'll take that to mean that you have no actual counter argument and have resorted to fact free, emotional ranting. You addressed none of the issues with executive pay.

Try again.

Somehow you have brought fact and non emotional ranting to this same debate? At least I can tell you what I have made and somehow be not being a CEO makes it ok.

Yes. I noted that CEO pay has risen considerably faster than both rank and file worker pay and overall profits. These are both facts. You then started nonsensically rambling about yourself as if that refuted them.

You don't control the flow of money, you don't run the company. Good attempt at a strawman though.

You also gave us your "idea" of how why this happens. No one is saying that CEOs don't get payed more than rank and file workers or that their pay goes up more. So what. When times get tough, those decisions at the top get a whole lot tougher and the job gets harder. Again, boohoohoo since you aren't getting the raises.
