I got a bag after reading the raves about them here. But they're really not very spicy at all. I was disappointed.

I ate a whole, freshly picked habanero once.

I advise that you do not do that, ever.

Seriously.

Are you fvcking insane? I make salsa once or twice a year and I usually use one habanero in a large batch... occasionally I forget to wear gloves and if I touch my eyes the next day it's like someone's burning them out with a blow torch. 😛

Pfft NONE of you know the meaning of "hot" or "spicy" until you have eaten true cajun cooking. With that said, your making me hungry...

What cajun pepper is as hot as a hab?

:music:anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you:music:

I need to try those. I love spicy chips with a sandwich that has 7 wheat grain bread, cajun turkey, and pepper jack cheese. That combo is always so tasty.

I'd like to know this as well. Isn't the habanero one of (if not THE) hottest natural "things." So unless you're using Dave's Insanity sauce or something in your cooking...

From Wikipedia
"Most habaneros will rate between 100,000 and 350,000 Scoville units. Several growers have attempted to selectively breed habanero plants to produce hotter, heavier, and larger peppers.

The Red Savina pepper is a cultivar of the habanero pepper, and has been tested and certified as the "World's hottest spice" and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records."

Meh .... the "fiery habanero doritos" are not fiery at all. They are extremely mild. I much prefer the Jalepeno potato chips to the habanero doritos. Both are mild, but I love the flavor of jalepenos.

Love the Habanero Doritos and the Salsa Verde ones. The Black Pepperjack are ok, but I just can't bring myself to eat them anymore since my wife's stepmother said that she "Loves to gobble down those Black Pecker Doritios"!

Agreed. Black Pepper Jack are now #2. My only issue is finding the Fiery Habaneros since most stores don't have them.

Edit: NOTHING beats Flamin' Hot Doritos but they don't sell them anymore. 🙁

I was eating at Chili's once and they served a fresh, whole jalapeno with whatever it was I ordered at the time. Apparently I didn't realize that was just for decoration. I took a big bite out of the thing and was in misery for about the next 20 minutes or so. My dad, who is a big fan of really hot food, was laughing the entire time.

You can still get Flaming Hot Fries and Flaming Hot Cheetos! Same thing basically. 🙂

I haven't seen these new Doritos, but I about jizzed all over the grocery store when I saw they brought back the Salsa Verde Doritos.

WTH ever happened to Taco flavored Doritos?

I loved those things
I had some yesterday. Figure out who your closest distributor is and hassle them about it.

How appropriate, Rossman's the only one to reply to this "flaming hot" deal 🙂

Tried them out today and thought they were pretty good. Its not Salsa Verde (which I have an impossible time finding in stores sometimes) but its still good.

I love watching people brag about how much heat they can take. Most of them end up whimpering when they have shut up and eat it.

Habaneros are hot. When you start playing around with distilled capsaisin and scoville ratings in the millions...then we are playing with fire.

🙂

Heh welcome to the club. I got a special collection of hot sauces (mostly Blair's) that I use on most of my food. At the moment i'm using "Jersey Death" and "Possible Side Effects" as my primary condiments. Problem is... I'm used to them now 🙁. I actually have to put significant quantities in my food to really get the fire going. 😛 oh well, time to upgrade to the AM extracts.

See, I used to be all about the heat. Then I realized it doesn't taste all that great when you're in pain. I go for milder sauces now, like Blair's Sweet Death - that's my all time favorite. I'd have to count all of the skull keychains in my junk drawer to tell you how many bottles I've gone through recently. 🙂

I love really spicy food, and have my war stories (doing shots of pureed habanero), but if the food doesn't have the flavor to back up the spice, it just tastes like crap. there's a local place that has these shrimp quesadillas with habenero paste and monteray jack that are soooooo good, and leave me sweating. great stuff.

so are these doritos that lovely combination of heat and flavor, or is it just (kid's level) heat?
