OK, so time to check out new hardware....

I ordered 2 GTX 470 Nvidia cards to go in a Q6600@3.3 box. I estimate 30k ppd for the box. 12500 x 2 for the video cards + 5000 ppd for the cpu.

What do you think ? It will be online by Friday night I think.

Sounds good. :)

Have you thought about trying bigadv again on your i7? Don't need a VM anymore & it is very stable.

It's an 8 core minimum for that ride. It can be real or virtual but 8 cores have to be seen by the program.

So, if you have "-bigadv" in your command line, it will grab one of these ? Is it that easy ? I am doing A3 units now.

That's my understanding. I haven't gotten brave enough to overclock my i7 860 enough to try it. You can check with GLeeM. I know he runs them on his rig.

As do I. :)

Yes, just add -bigadv (& remove -advmethods and/or change that setting in config as well) & you're good to go. You will still get regular A3 if no bigadv are available.

ok, no bigadv. Do I also have to remove the "-smp" ??

Also, I only get 11,700 ppd on my GTX470@stock.

The 470 overclock well, overclocked ones are hitting 12k

well, its odd how it shows up. It says 607 mhz in the specs, but 1647 for core using the software that came with it, OR evga precision. I tried going to ~1850 from 1647, and got a EUE in minutes. Who, what number to I try that is safe ?

The default for memory is 1674, are you sure that's not what you changed? Also remember that core/shaders are locked together for Fermi.

Yup, here it is. What safe settings should I try ?1750 ? Does seem like much of an OC % wise.

I think you should upgrade to the newest version of Afterburner; those numbers seem strange. As far as OCing, I would go a step or two at a time.

New problem... Different box.

So I have a 100% stable F@H 920@3.7 for 9 months. I turn on HT, and get a bigadv, and at 14%, and many hours in, I get a "client-cor communications error. So its on to a new one. 5000 points wasted.

Sorry to hear about that. :(

What settings have you changed in the BIOS for your current OC? What speed is your RAM running?

I can't seem to get my 460 working with folding, I installed 6.30r2, but it just keeps giving me errors downloading core. Oddly its not creating a log file just if you hover over the icon.

All I did was turn on HT from before. Not sure on the ram, but for sure UNDER spec speed., probably 1333 or less, and stock timings and voltage.

Did you install in Program Files? If so, try a different directory.

What speed is QPI? Uncore? Which voltages did you increase if any?

as I said, only change was HT. I will have to rebnoot to tell you the rest.

BTW, up to 21% on the next unit. Wish me luck on this one.

And the new 470 showed up today, so now I have a pair on them working !! For sone reason, the PPD stinks, 5000 on the second card ! Why ??

No problem. It just seems weird seeing an i7 at 3.7 compared to all the rest of your OCs.

Definitely! :)

You changed the priority from idle to low? No SLI?

Yes, I also am upset about the OC....and up to 28% and counting.

You can't run F@H in SLI (unless its a fermi thing that I don't know about) I just put it in another box, and now I have another quad up also. Up to over 150k ppd !!!!

Now I have 7 video cards for sale !!! 4 8800GT superclocked, 2 9800 GTX+ superclocked and a 8800 GTS 320 meg. All at factory settings.

Wait you mean you can't run 2 460 with F@H mark? I'm thinking of getting another for SLI to run F@H as well. Let me know if you can. I will have 2xevga super clocked GTX 460 then for folding/gaming. Remember you can't run 460 GTX in triple/quad configs by design.

btw markfw900, you are using older version of MSI afterburner, the newest one 1.6.1 adds support for 460. I had the same problem at first and was like wth is going on. lol
