My prescription expire so I had to of course get a new one because I needed new lenses from getting a deep scratch on one side. I get my eye test and new RX, the glasses come in and they are slightly blurry. Not the case with another pair I am using that had the same RX as the lenses I replaced. Anyhow, the Dr checks everything out and says he tells people to give me eyes time to adjust.

I have never been told that, any new lenses I have gotten have been clear from the get go. He did adjust the RX slightly anyhow, but still says once I get them, allow 5-7 days to adjust. has anyone with glasses been told or had the same type of thing happen? I read 20/20 right now with my old RX, my lenses are progressive's.

Nearsighted here and my prescription hasn't changed in ages. I've never been told that my eyes needed to adjusts to the same grade of lenses.
Perhaps only if/when the grade changes/is different from the previous?

I've never had new glasses start out "fuzzy", but have required adjustment time. Could still see clearly, but things looked weird.

Who knows, I will do what he says, I just found it weird I have never had to do it before. My last RX my vision improved slightly, not sure if that was distance or near vision improvement. The whole law about having the RX expire is pure lame ass bullshit. If my vision got worse, I would go have my eyes checked, but the industry loses money by not having the RX expire. Its 2 years here in CA, some states its 1 year.

Were the new glasses fitted correctly? With progressives, if the lenses are out of alignment with each other, even a little bit, you can get blurry vision as the magnification is stronger in one eye than the other. If you have an astigmatism, alignment is even more critical.

Not that I am aware of, its the same frames just new lenses due to a scratch.

Since I order my glasses online, I don't have to worry about the prescription "expiring". I do still get exams every so often, but the prescription itself hasn't changed since I was ~19.

I have done the online thing, I know its cheaper, but I prefer going through Costco for my lenses. My Persol frames I bought online and had Costco do the lenses.

Either the doc or the lens maker or both messed up and they're hoping you won't force the issue. Force the issue.

My wife's first pair of glasses ever were bifocals. Progressive lenses. When she went to take the first step with them on she grabbed my arm saying the floor was coming up at her. We immediately went back in and the tech pretended like she was actually doing something and declared that they were good now. They weren't.

The Doctor got involved. He was not too happy to have to do it. He took my wife into one of the exam rooms and when she walked out he had bent the nose pieces such that the frame itself was sitting on her nose and the arms were bent so such that the glasses were so low on her face that it was ridiculously obvious that something was wrong. We got the same song and dance you did about wearing them for so many days, blah, blah.

She waited the time they wanted and we went in and demanded that the glasses be remade. The same tech was tasked with dealing with us but the manager came over and told us she would take over. She assured us that the replacement pair would be correct and they were. In conversing with her it was obvious by reading between the lines that the original tech we had was pretty much incompetent.

After a new prescription your vision should be as good as it was or better. Force the issue.

The girl at the front measured the lenses and said that the lab did them to the RX. When the Dr came in, he took me in, had me put on the glasses, then used small handheld lenses up to see if they improved my vision, they did and he adjusted the RX. I would have been getting the lenses redone anyhow, one side had a scratch. None of them tried to stop me from fixing the issue, Costco has a 90 day warranty on the lenses. I just don't get why after all these years of having glasses they would not be clear from the get go.

Have to agree with everyone else, there is something wrong with the glasses. The first progressives I had the lady told me I was holding my head wrong, "No one holds their heads that high" and then just looked at me. I finally lowered my head and she said "There" and started taking her measurements. When I got my glasses they were blurry. I had them adjust them, had the doc look at them. If I wore them on the end of my nose they were fine. I just put them in a drawer and never wore them. The next year I made sure they measured my head the way I normally carry my head. These glasses are freaking awesome. I have no blurry spots at all and can read everything.

With the previous glasses they also told me the same thing, you just have to get used to them. Nope, did not work.

Well, the fact that he did correct the RX a bit, I hope that's the end of it once they come back. If I get them and do what he says and try to adjust, if that doesn't work, back they go again.

The last time I got a pair of RX glasses from the eye doctor's office was the last. One of the eye's RX was waaaay off and it turned out the doctor couldn't write and the women transcribing the RX couldn't read (or see). Since then I've been doing fine with Costco, at a third of my cost and without using my EyeMed RX glass benefit.

When I did wear glasses I never got them starting out as blurry, but it would take some time to adjust, it would kind of "feel" weird, if that makes sense, but things were clear. I since got lasik though I just got tired of dealing with glasses. Best money I ever spent.
