Check out ESPN.com, it just changed designs while i was there. They have a new video system too, sposed to be revolutionary technology, with NO (edit for error) BUFFERING. But, it doesn't buffer because this program sits in your systray and downloads the videos to your computer automatically... doesn't seem too special to me. They could just offer videos to download...
oh well,
see what you all think,

I am totally shocked and amazed that there is never any buffering. Is it really streaming as I am watching it? How does ESPN Motion really work anyhow?

Its pretty cool. Finally a mainstream website taking advantage of broadband. Although its annoying how it doesn't work with non-IE browsers. But not a surprise considering espn is a part of msn.

they didn't change the design that much, but it does look a little cleaner (the homepage at least)

I still wish they would reduce the size of the top portion. Between the MSN Banner, the Ad Banner, and the ESPN banner, a good portion of screen real estate is wasted.

Wow! I'm already a huge fan of ESPN motion! Very nice! Even if it is just videos downloading automatically in the background, it's still great because I don't have to do it. :p Not to mention, how often am I using all of my bandwidth? Not very, so it's not going to be slowing anything down.

I like the design changes on the main page too - a bit sleeker, easier on the eyes.

I wonder when the other subpages (like the NBA, Men's College Bball, MLB, etc.) will be updated...

I was about to send it around to my coworkers until I realized how it worked. So basically it just downloads the videos ahead of time and you get to see them next time you go to the site. I remember when Bluelight.com used to do that with their free ISP service. You'd spend the first 2 or 3 minutes of your connection downloading a video commercial that would be played during the dial-up process next time. And so on. With broadband it's obviously a lot less painful, but still, having several computers on a network individually downloading and caching video is not something I'm sure the IT guys would be thrilled with . . . it would interfere with everyone else's Kazaa downloads.

Doesn't seem to work with Opera...it tells me that I don't have WM7 or greater (pfffft) or Flash 5.

Bleh.

Man, very impressed, everything is silky smooth with a slick presentation. Its like SC on your desktop :)

Office productivity will definitely see a downturn in the months of Feb/March/April, especially with the NCAA's right around the corner. :)

That opening video was some of the best quality streaming video I've ever seen. I gotta look into what tech they are using...very sweet.

I've had ESPNMotion for awhile, they offered it a couple months ago to Insiders, I really like it. Their website in general now looks very good.

Is Insider subscription worth it? The only times I wish I was an insider is for Mel Kiper's draft info :) I guess I'm of the old-school mentality of not paying for internet web usage, but I've been subscribing to various sites I frequent lately (like AT :) ), so I may have to look into it.

It is worth it I think. What I like best is how it finds all the online newspaper articles about each team and organizes them for easy viewing. The "rumors" pages are nice too, ie near a trade deadline, it'll say all the players who are being talked about, which teams are interested, and the latest news. These get updated every few days.
