Civility in the lefts eyes means pipe down while we force our agenda down your throat. When they engage in activities like this then it is democracy in action.

Extremers are on the Right and the Left but the Left is better at tracking and reporting it against the Right.

Yep, you're right.

Anyhow, this situation reminds me of the "outrage" at one of the major universities in Indiana (my alma mater) about a year ago or so. As a benefit, each employee at this university was given an amount equal to 15% of his/her salary to invest in their retirement fund (and probably some additional matches as well). Due to the financial crisis, it had to be cut to a mere 10% and from the outrage, you would've thought that these guys were asked to skip meals, sell their kids, and prostitute their daughters.

Ya, I noticed the same thing from lurking here for awhile and with my few posts, I didn't want to be the first to say it though. No good input, just inane comments about people..never addresses the subject at hand.

Stuff it, man.

Fox News, etc. wouldn't exist if it were not for the obviously left-leaning media this country endured for the better part of 4 decades.

Examples? You might have missed the last 10 years of liberal's calling for Bush's death, comparing him to Hitler, violence breaking out at liberal protests, etc.

The left has almost had a monopoly on violent, hateful rhetoric for almost a decade, but it is always excuse because they have a self-declared moral justification for anything they do.

Oh yeah, lefties obviously run the country today and that's why we have Obamacare and PBS. Big Bird is a lefty out to spread propaganda about things like sharing and commies rule the airwaves.

Get a grip guys. No matter how much people complain the fact remains the US still has the lowest income taxes in the developed world and spends the smallest percentage of its taxes on social programs. If you want something more capitalistic you'll just have to move to the third world.

Teachers are averaging $50,000/year in salary in Wisconsin.

Well, considering the amount of continuing education teachers are required to have I am willing to bet the vast majority have their masters degree. That salary seems to fall towards the middle of the expected pay range for someone with a master's degree

http://www.earnmydegree.com/online-education/learning-center/education-value.html
http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Degree=Master's_Degree/Salary

Teachers tend to bear a heavy burden in terms of continuing education costs and class room supply costs.

I don't think the issue is with their salaries* but with the benefits packages - particularly for those teachers who are already retired. These are the areas that really need to be addressed.

*After a cursory glance at WI's education system it seems to be similar to Michigan's and pension/benefits are a huge burden on MI's finances

Personally I don't see anything all that inflamatory. No one is calling for his death or anything that crazy. I do see some bad comparisons but thats about it

The extreme left is a hypocritical condescending parent that scolds someone for an activity and then does the exact same thing, all while talking down to them.

The extreme right is a semi-retarded religious teenager that is very warm and loving right up until you disagree with him/her on anything, at which point they react with all the petulant fury of a 3 year old who was just denied a cookie.

Take your pick. Social progress with a mandatory nanny, or social regress with more overall freedom. God our parties suck.

I suppose that leaves those in the middle as the whiny wimpy kids always asking, "Why can't we all just get along?".

Rhetorical Question Alert:

Why does it always seem to be the case that when the word "Civility" is used in a thread title, the thread invariably devolves into a shining example of bigoted, partisan, and ignorant FuckTard~ery?

No response is necessary.

New Era of Civility? Does this mean the OP is going to stop posting :)

But seriously civility like chivalry is dead, angry is the new normal. Just look at what the HOR is doing today, voting to defund the healthcare bill when it has less than zero chance passing the senate. Next week they vote to repeal Obamas birth certificate :)

Funny, I cannot remember the last time I heard of a Dem wanting to nose into peoples bedrooms, tap my phone, track my library books, take away my collective bargaining rights, tell women what to do with their bodies and spend needed infrastructure monies to start wars to kill brown people or give the rich even more of monies we dont have for "tax breaks".

Huh, I guess I missed the foxnews talking point.

Your employer (in this case, the state) has no obligation to bargain collectively with its employees.
"Rights"? Give me a break

One more freedom lost potentially as a american worker, probably the most important one.

Even Corporcrat Obama will not let this WI bill through. Even I am not that doom and gloom about Dems.

Again, what freedom are you talking about?
If the people of the state no longer want to collectively bargain with people hired by the state then why should they be forced to do so?

You have no freedom to force people to accept whatever terms you offer them.

And Obama should keep his nose out from where it doesn't belong.

The "people" of the state are the folks who are doing the collective bargaining. Corporations and contractors are not "people of the state" they are a faceless profit generating entity that can only be bargained with through profit. Or in this case the ones who create the product that creates the profit. -The workers.

Why are you bringing corporations into this?
This has to do with public workers.

If the state no longer wishes to bargain with them collectively then thats that. Don't like it? Quit.
