New Egg Trusted?

Have ordered from both and have been extremely satisfied. I prefer newegg because they usually ship stuff the same day I order it and I prefer the navigation and layout of their website to that of zipzoomfly, but you don't need to worry about trusting either.

Go to the bank and transfer funds for the project, into a secured credit card.

I would never use my debit card for an online transaction.

Newegg is the best imo.

I personally was pleased at how cheap overnight shipping was. I had to build 2 systems for a guy last minute, and overnight shipping was around $25. I've seen standard UPS ground for $15 at some places, so it was nice to be able to get all the pieces I needed from one place and pay less in shipping, even paying for overnight, than I would have ordering from different stores.

newegg, zipzoomfly, and svc are my favorite online resellers. I haven't had any significant issues with numerous orders over the past year. I can't say that for some other resellers I purchased from during that same period. Good service is key, but getting good prices with good service is SWEET!

Newegg should treat you right, but jmagg NAILED it. Your "fake" Visa is the worse thing to use for purchases like this. You may not be out just $900. A thief can clear your account and you have no real rights like you would with a real Visa. Get a secured card. Better still, find a credit union that you can join as they tend to be more customer oriented, therefore easier to get a cc.

Both of those companies are very reputable. Your problem may occur when you send your debit account info over the internet and it is picked off by someone else. If you do not feel safe then at the very least phone in your order.

Thing is though, over the Internet, it's encrypted. Over the phone, a simple tap would get everything. :Q

Personally I use a credit card rather than a bank card online simply because credit cards actually are more friendly for you. Card gets stolen or lost almost ever cc out there you can just dispute the charges and your not out anything. Debit card, your money is gone the instant the transaction is done and the bank doesn't seem to care. Had a friends parents who had problems with thier bank card and the bank froze thier account for 2 or 3 months while they figured it out. Major pain in the rear to say the least. With that said I still find people worrying about the credit cards on the internet kinda funny since the same people will usually give thier CC to thier waiter or casher with out thinking twice. Who's more likely to steal you cc number? The guy or gal making min wage in a crappy job or the guy or gal with expensive computers and years of training? yeah make sure the site is encrypted etc and don't do anything silly.

If your debit card is backed by one of the major credit card companies, like VISA, just use it as a credit card and not a debit card. If you do that, you will have Visa's backing over the banks.

Plain and simple here folks. A debit card is not a credit card. Period. There are different laws that pertain to each. You have no protection using a debit card where a credit card there is a lot of protection. I worked at Wells Fargo for 3 years. Trust me, use a credit card or pay cash; cancel your debit cards.

Or, use a credit/debit card at a store. As I understand it, the data is encrypted, and sent out, similarly to how it'd be leaving your PC. And people do that without giving it a second thought. But PC's scare people - rightfully so. Too many of them do the same dumb things over and over again, without seeing a pattern of "if I click here while holding these keys down, the computer reboots. I wonder what'll happen if I do that a hundred more times? I'd better call a technician."

I have purchased several thousand dollars worth of computer gear from them over the past two years and I have only had one problem. They sent me a GeForce MX 440 once when I ordered a GeForce 5700 Ultra. I shipped the MX 440 back to them and had to pay a restocking fee???????

I'm yet another person who has purchased several thousand dollars worth of computer hardware from Newegg. I have never had a single problem dealing with them. You should have no worries. If you are worried about credit card information getting out (Which could happen when you send sensitive data like that through the Internet), then phone in your order.

Interesting.... Just checked Newegg and it looks like they have flagged all products as "Out of Stock." All cpu's, HD's, motherboards and probably other items. This is as of 10:37CST

I had a problem with ZipZoomFly back when they used to be called Googlegear. I bought about $900 worth of components to build a new computer, but most of it was missing from the shipment. After fighting with them for months to get them to replace or credit me for the missing components using the insurance money from UPS, I ending up having to write a letter to my credit card company about how Googlegear was stalling before I got a credit for the missing items. They still stuck me with a damaged motherboard that they wouldn't even return my calls and e-mail about.

that sucks 🙁

Yeah, NewEgg is a great place to shop online. I had only one return in the past year and they didn't waste my time, sent me a new part real fast, no questions asked. Highly recommended.

Besides almost always within a few bucks of the lowest price on the web (excluding HotDeals style PM/AR/runaround crap) including all the shady fly-by-nights on Pricewatch, Newegg has unbelievable selection, an incredibly informative site, and shipping that is consistently the fastest of ANY online company I have ordered from, hardware related or not. Plus, they give out free stuff.
