As taken from FW, here are the more appealing deals of the bunch, without the referral links:

Just thought I'd show this because the NEC is on sale again for $63.99, for those rushing to buy presents for Christmas, the NEC is a good stocking stuffer.

BYTECC Silver 3.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure, Model "ME-7050U2" - $28.99
(Note: They also sell the older version for $28.99)

Corsair Value Select (Dual Pack) 184 Pin 512MBx2 DDR PC-3200 - OEM - $139.86

NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive, Black, Model ND-3500A BK, OEM - $63.99

Sony Internal 16X DVD+R / Double Layer/DVD+RW Drive, Model DRU710A - $86.99

Relating to the hard-drive enclosure. I realize max throughput on USB 2.0 is 480 mbps (or 60MByte/sec I believe), and 400 mbps (50MByte/sec) for Firewire. Besides having a max speed advantage, what are the advantages/disadvantages of Firewire vs. USB 2.0 ?

I have an old 40GB hard drive that I'll probably stuff into this thing. And I only have USB 2.0 now anyway.

What was the original price on these before this one day "sale." Newegg has a sale on the MSI "K8N Neo2 Platinum" but the sale is only a difference of $1.

Yeah any ideas? I was looking at that Ram also, not sure if its a good deal or not. Outpost lastest deals on memory kinda scared me with invalid product names/expiration dates on rebates so held off.

Does Newegg not offer discounted shipping on orders containing several items? It seems that if you were to order 5 items that each indicate a shipping charge individually, your total shipping charge is simply the sum of all 5 shipping charges. Newegg's gotta be the first company I've seen do that.

If you order more then one of the same item, the price goes down for shipping & even each item itself at times. Everyone complains about the little items adding up to big shipping, but they haven't made any exceptions when I tried calling in to complain.

The corsair value is good stuff. It normally sells for a little bit over $150 for that particular set.

one thing i do know is that USB 2.0 uses more cpu cycles than firewire. I have a DVD-ROM in my enclosure which has both firewire and USB 2.0 connections. If it's plugged in via USB 2.0, CPU utilization is around 60% when it is decrypting a DVD. If it's plugged in by firewire, CPU utilization drops to under 12%.

Now they have a similar deal but this time it's Mushkin, and it's $140 shipped. How do Mushkin & Corsair compare?

Oh, here's a Link
