Question New Edge Security Settings?

So I just updated to the latest Edge and saw this Enhanced Security setting. Does anyone know what this does? Does it use VM tech like Application Guard to separate these processes into a secure memory location?

I discovered that it prevented me from logging into the DSM of my NAS, which caused me a bit of consternation and much time lost in troubleshooting.

Thank you but I wish that MS included a page with a more technical explanation. Still, better browser security options are a win for everyone IMO.
