So the 23 feedback I've built up over my 7+ years at ebay will now be reduced to 2 because I don't shop there regularly!
Thanks alot ebay. F U 2!!

Well you might've been a good seller then and you might be a dbag now. Past performance isn't necessarily an indicator of future performance =P

when did selling on ebay turn into politics? :p Is ask not what ebay can do for you, but what you can do for ebay next?

Seriously in 7 years and only 23 feeds, I'd push to delete you from the database.

Why would anyone bother leaving feedback for a buyer anymore?

Sounds like they are really tipping the scales in favor of the buyer...

That's retarded. What they should have done is implemented some sort of system where once the item is paid for -- especially via paypal -- the seller is obligated to give good feedback to the buyer. I mean, think about how indignant you all get at a retail establishment; once you hand over the cash, you want your item NOW and you don't want to hear any BS about it, and you want good customer service and blah blah blah.

Once you pay, your part of the transaction is done. If I have a problem -- after I paid -- with a seller, and I want to express that in feedback, I shouldn't have to worry about some asshole seller tainting my feedback in retaliation.

So I have ZERO sympathy.

But your assumption is flawed. If a buyer tries to extort me 2 months after the sale, why should that not count against him? He's an idiot buyer and deserves a neg. Unfortunately, the sale doesn't end for the seller after the buyer paid.

Sellers feel the same way about buyers, trust me.
I personally wait to give feedback to buyers after they receive their merchandise, just like exchanging heatware in the FS/FT forum. There's a good reason, some buyers commit fraud.

Seems to me this would stop retaliatory feedback. I left bad feedback for a guy with a misleading auction, the member is now suspended, and he left negative feedback to me saying I was a bad buyer (I paid him within 5 minutes of winning). This works fine for me.

I just wish we could leave more detailed feedback. I think that would go a long ways towards being able to see if something is retaliatory vs something that is legit.

I'm kinda sad, i have little Ebay feedback and it will be virtually wiped out since I use it once ever 6 months or so.

edit: I guess I'll be going from +23 feedback as a member since October 2002 to +4 feedback? Thanks Ebay.

I barely use ebay as is, I guess I have even less reason too now.
The lifetime counts will stand. The positive feedback percentage will be calculated, based on the last 12 months. Sellers will figure out a standard way to mark their Bad buyers feedback...
