New Dune series on Sci-Fi tonight; Who's gonna watch?

The 2-hour, Part I is on at 9pm (Eastern Time, US) tonight on Sci-Fi.

A 6-hour Mini-Series based on the Dune book(s). I'll give it a few minutes, if it's lame (like I suspect it will be) I'll be switching back over to X-Files.

I'll probably wait for 10000000 rebroadcasts of it so I can watch the X-Files tonight. It definitely looks interesting, though.

Too bad I hate the Sci-Fi channel so much since it kills off any good series it gets (yes I know Dune isn't a series). I miss MST3k 🙁

Ive got my VCR set to record and i will be watching it as well........One of my favorite sets of Books of all time. It should be very good........also the prequels are not bad....not as awesome as the original set but well worth actually reading once you have red the entire 6-Book Original set.

<< Sci-fi TV really sucks since B5 went off the air. >>

Huh? What are you talking about B5 is still on Sci-Fi.

Sci-Fi can't "kill" off any series. Only the studio that produces it can cancel a series. Sci-Fi only gets licensing for shows (unless it's their own production).

The tv trailers left me with the initial impression that the miniseries' production style tends toward the effeminate -- a definite turn off since interstellar intrigue and warfare such as the author portrayed was anything but effeminate.

Having recently read an interview with the director, I'll suspend that evaluation until I have seen his work, hoping for the best.

At the moment, I have no definitive opinion.

Ummmmm... Sci-Fi did kill off MST3k. It became their own production after Comedy Central dropped it. They also killed off Sliders, which they got from Fox (granted Sliders started to suck after Sci-Fi got it).

I've read the book about 15 times, seen the original movie about 20 times, the extended version (with the male narrator) 4 or 5 times. I'm anxious to see this version, but I just got done doing laundry, eating, and washing dishes, just sat down in front of the trusty computer to visit AT - OT. I think I'll do what Balt said, but maybe I won't wait for the 10000000th rerun..... -kd5-

At the first commercial: this really sucks. The director and production designers have no Y chromosomes.

Ok just finished and im personally loving it so far........For anyone who is watching DO NOT try to compare it to the Original Movie at all thats not how this is to be portrayed.......For the Most part this is going by the Book.....a few inconsistinces here and there but so far very close to the book which ive read god knows how many times. Enjoy it.
