Wow, Cnet sucks.
Video Memory
Max video RAM supported 256 MB

Video memory 256 MB : 256 MB

So, any guesses on what type of card it will be? Could be an FX5200 for all we know.

I really don't see the point of Dell using it in their XPS series when it is alot slower with the current games. Maybe because this will be the first Dell that you can overclock.

Apparently the Intel dual core overclocks quite nicely as they had a working Falcon NW dual core OCed to 3.6 on air (I think). Rumors that they will go to 4+ without much trouble. This seems to be the case are there are several on this forum that have the new 6xx P4s at over 4Ghz on air (Sentential for one).

The Intel dual core, while not very creative or optimal, definetly doesn't suck. It performs very well.

And as far as heat is concerned. Who cares as long as it runs without throttling. It could run 100C, as long as it runs.

Well, HT was an awesome advantage to those of us that like to do more than play games, so this just takes Intel up another notch in my book. Multitasking with actual performance is the only way to go!!!

At the same time unless you are planning to drop a cool grand on the EE drop a notch cause you will lose HT.....then when AMD arrives with the dual cores, gaming or not there will not be any clear cut winner anymore inthe areas once dominated by Intel....

Either is the intel dual core...let me know when you have yours!!!

I think reports of AMD upping the release of the dual opterons for this quarter, where they planned to release first (the server/workstation market)....This may help to release the dual core desktop cpus sooner as well....

The story I heard today was near the end of this 2Q when the dual core Intels will be shipped to consumers...this was a sneak peek....I think AMD will introduce their opterons near same time, but Intel will have the lead first likely...

One thing.... AMD may not be out yet, but wont you like to wait and see how AMD's implementation works??? See how performance is not effected when the memory bus is not limited by sharing??? see what type of power and thermal results we get???

I think any true hardware enthusiast would....Fanboys buy first blindly without see all the results....

"You won't find any current games that support multithreaded processing, but plenty of multimedia applications do (for example Adobe Photoshop CS and Apple iTunes)."

We have had games for a few years that support multithreading.

"You won't fall out of your chair when we tell you that the Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 is clocked at 3.2GHz, but enthusiasts will raise an eyebrow when they discover that the chip is the first from Intel in years that can be overclocked. "

I have a feeling that you won't be overclocking a Dell anytime soon.

I though you could overclock most chips from intel?

"Being first won't stop Intel's solution from sucking."
That is a true fanboy comment based on ignorance.

for me as always is the case, whatever performs the best at what i do regularly is what i spend my money on. Right now intel owns the multitasking crown and with the first release of the dual core, it just makes their hold on this crown a bit stronger. If however the AMD dual core solutions proves to be a better setup then guess what?? i will own an AMD setup then. To be honest i want AMD's solution to be a good one to help keep the 2 companies close to each other and keep them competing for our business, which means competitive pricing for us all :)

Maybe multiplier unlocked?
They weren't very specific :(

And generally *most* games are not multithreaded, as they are designed for one processor, because, well, that's what people have generally.
Most will NOT gain much from dual processors.

Ignorance is the state if not knowing. You just proved you're very ignorant of its meaning. Among other things. Prescott sucks. I don't see how two Prescott cores on one die won't suck either.

"Ignorance is the state if not knowing." The state if not knowing? You really should brush up on your English before you wax intellectual on others.
