Does anyone know if there are new drivers or updates for the BFG 6800 GT OC? Currently running 5-14-2004. I haven't updated anything, just installed the software it came with. Anything else i need to install?

Hey Drew, My name is Drew too.

Now you need to update those drivers. Either get the "offical" drivers from here or get some beta drivers from guru3d.

All i can say is wow! Now my score is 4769 in 3DMark05....I know its alot better but is that good? Also i was wondering about platform nforce drivers. should i update those too? And any others?

LOL drivers can make a world of difference. YES update all drivers preferably. That is a very good score. You can hit the 5000 mark I bet if you turn that mem on your gfx card up to 1100, but go up in 10Mhz increments to be safe. Increasing mem on your card will provide best results. I tweak up the mem till I get artifacts then bump it down 15 MHz. Then I raise core in 10 Mhz increments till I get artifacts then bump it down 15 MHz. Im runnin 420/1120 24/7 although I do have the nv5 arctic cooling silencer. You should get 400/1050 easily with the stock cooling. Did you go with 66.93's? I use Rivatuner for OC'ing . NJOY 🙂

Yea i went with the 66.93's driver. I'm not familar with OC'ing but would love to try. Do you have AIM? Maybe you could help me. All i have is stock cooling right now.

I do not have AIM srry. Way I learned was reading in forums like this. It is very simple as long as you increase clocks in small increments. It ttakes a while to get where you want, but be safe about it. Nvidia cards have a threshhold anyways so it is actually hard to f_ck up your card. www.guru3d.com and you will learn a lot! 🙂

Well whenever i upgrade my cooling to liquid i'm gonna OC. I installed the new drivers for the card and for the platform. And i put the AA up to 8xS and the AF to 4x and played Madden 2005 without a single glitch or sputter. I also looked into the device manager and noticed the Secondary Drive (Sony DVD BURNER) was at DMA Ultra66 when it used to be DMA Ulta33, now faster. Man i'm more excited than ever now. Just took my gaming to a whole new level. Notice the pixel vertex shader version, i think that was the big thing.

Before i updated my drivers:

AA=antialiasing AF=Anisotropic Filtering
Higher AA settings minimixe the "stairstep" effect along the edges of 3d objects
Higher AF setting improve the image quality by creating higher sampling rates within the 3d image. As far as being more important I dont see huge differences after enabling them to 4x and above. You take quite a hit on performance so I tend to leave them at 2x or 4x. It's just how keen or trained your eye is. Keep them off for benches if you want higher scores lol

Yea i knew to keep them off to get good scores. I can tell a big difference when i enable them. Should i restart my computer when i change them through my Nvidia Settings on the desktop?

You do not have to it just depends on your setting in the control panel and if you tell Windows to restart your pc after changing settings. I choose not to 🙂 Start>ControlPanel>Appearance&Themes>Change Screen Resolution>Advanced>General tab>under Compatability choose Not to restart 🙂 Hit apply
