New Drivers = BSOD

First off....system specs:


Athlon 64 3000+ (winny) @ 3500+
2x512 Patriot Value 2x512 Geil Value
evga 6800NU oc'd
1x200 IDE
1x200 Sata
400Watt PS forgot the name.....but it got good reviews when i was googling it

But uh....Ive tried install both X-treme g 81.95v2 and the new nvidia drivers that came out today....and my pc crashes on both installations.....gets about half way done then BSOD....why is this lmk thanks

Did you uninstall the old ones first via control panel ,add/remove programs,I would also run driver cleaner in safe mode too.

Crashed when i tryed to run Driver Cleaner...and i already uninstalled via add/remove

Send me the minidumps found in c:\windows\minidump
Run MPS Reports and send me the resulting .cab file
Follow the info/directions in my .sig.

The dumps will tell us what went wrong.

Remove that (rip out the card temporarily) and see if you can reproduce the problem. I'm betting you won't be able to.

Then, once you've confirmed that's the culprit, either get newer drivers, or get better-made drivers from another vendor (ie with another card).

Ooops - that's from 12/2004, not 12/2005. That was your problem back then; now, in looking at the first and last dump from today, I'm betting you've a hardware problem. Turn off all (ahem....ALL) overclocking, and see if you can reproduce the issue.

And you stopped the graphics card OC too?
When did this start, and what did you change just before that point?

nothing jes tried to install drivers.....i jes did a system restore so imma try again

You had a fully working system, and then you tried to install those two drivers?

If so, revert back to the drivers you previously had and confirm the system is stable.
