all dogs in urban america should be inside.

older dogs if house broken remain house broken normally....

however if you are gone 8+ hours a dog can't do it. Can you?

8 hours is pushing it....give a doggie door to a fenced area.

No fence. If dogs can't hold it for 8 hours I guess I'll get a pet rock.

i think 8 hrs is a bit too much. i had a dog back in high school. he was home alone for like 6 hrs. mom would walk him when she left for work (after i left for school) and I'd walk him when i got back from school around 3. He'd run outta the house and do his stuff as soon as i opened the back door. You could tell he was holdin it in

Bah. I guess I'll need to ask the people I know who are gone for 8-10 hours at work whether or not they have a problem with this every day that they come home. I know there are a lot of cat haters but score one for the litter box.

I have cats now....I know my dogs, and whenever I owned one I came home at lunch and even then they were ready to pee.

I do want dogs still, but I will provide them a 'bathroom'.

Most people think their animals are happy although they come home after 10+ hours with only a few messes.

Dogs don't want to pee or cr@p themselves anymore than us.

*edit* I am "only" a 7 year zoology student....with 2 years in a vet's office that was a head vet for the city zoo. If your ignore your pet, they could give two shts on your couch (they probably do). My animals jump at me as soon as I come in the door, wake up, etc. They are my children since due to circumstance I can't have them.

Get the medicine from your vet, I guess? I adopted a dog that had kennel cough and they gave me a doggie Rx to administer.
