I'm moving in a couple of weeks and plan on getting a dog from the pound. I'm not trying to hijack your thread or anything but can you, or anyone else, give me some advice here? It will be an inside dog and it will also be the first inside dog I've ever owned. Do I need to limit myself to puppies or is it still fairly easy to house break older dogs?
what are you looking for?
all dogs in urban america should be inside.
older dogs if house broken remain house broken normally....
however if you are gone 8+ hours a dog can't do it. Can you?
8 hours is pushing it....give a doggie door to a fenced area.
No fence. If dogs can't hold it for 8 hours I guess I'll get a pet rock.![]()
i think 8 hrs is a bit too much. i had a dog back in high school. he was home alone for like 6 hrs. mom would walk him when she left for work (after i left for school) and I'd walk him when i got back from school around 3. He'd run outta the house and do his stuff as soon as i opened the back door. You could tell he was holdin it in
Bah. I guess I'll need to ask the people I know who are gone for 8-10 hours at work whether or not they have a problem with this every day that they come home. I know there are a lot of cat haters but score one for the litter box.![]()
 My dog was rescued from the pound, too. They make the best pets, somehow they just know that you saved them...Originally posted by: maziwanka
