New Documentary on the Holocaust on PBS now

I've talked to a lot of middle-easterners, and it's amazing how most of them have been brainwashed to believe that it never happened, and the Jews are responsible for the world's problems. They're taught this from a young age.

I am no apologist for the denial of the validity of the holocaust or anything......it's jsut, after a hard day of work, I don't feel like coming home, sitting down with diner and trying to relax while watching a documentary on genocide🙁

And Americans/Europeans are taught that any gesture into the validity of the holocaust is heresy, sometimes illegal.

You should watch it while you eat meat and embrace a completely different genocide.

I agree with that, too.

I think that the topic has people spinning it on both sides. You can't even talk about the topic without offending someone nowadays.

Hell, in different threads on this forum I've been called anti-semitic and a typical pro-Israel American. All for staying neutral and not being afraid to state my beliefs (that nobody is perfect and everyone acts in their own best interest). The topic has degraded into people playing the race card for both sides. Either you're anti-semitic like Hitler, or you're pro Israeli and out to destroy Muslims.

i have only watched the first episode. quite good actually...good round table discussion afterwards

kind of like meet the press style

Well, Germans are taught to feel guilty, and as far as Americans go, I can say it would be taboo in most places to say anything good about it.

One of the commentators (a second generation survivor) made what I thought was an excellent statement about what the holocaust teaches us. He basically said that it teaches us absolutely nothing, and that it is utterly bleak. I think he gave the best characterization of evil I've heard.
