(c&p from RoombaReview Message Board)

Amazon.com has the Roomba Red on sale for $125.99. Use the $25 off $125 coupon (found on the same page as the Roomba) to drop the price to $100.99 with free super saver shipping and no tax to most states.

The new Roomba Red is pretty much identical to the $250 Roomba Discovery, but it doesn't come bundled with any extras except for a single virtual wall and 3 filters. (The 3 hour charger, home base, wireless remote and wall mount are compatible and can be added on at a later time however.) It has the 3x larger dustbin, dirt detection, 7 hour charging and the new easy cleaning brush system.

Coupon code expires on December 19th, 2004.

Here is the link

Edit: Updated coupon code expiration date. Thanks chmike!

The $20 off coupon has been extended thru October 31st, so this is still an ongoing deal!

My vote is gimmick. It?s fun to watch, but at the end of the day there isn?t much in the dust tray.

Are you sure your talking about the Roomba and not one of the cheap clones?

They aren't perfect, but no one ever complains that they don't pick up dirt. They pick up a ton. The hard part is keeping them maintained so that they don't break.

The only one I know of that doesn't pick up alot of dirt is the Zoombot, which isn't in the same league as the Roomba.

I heard that people that have the Roomba like it so much that they treat it like a pet... Like, people bring it with them on vacation and leave it in the hotel room.

I'm not sure I agree with cleaning a hotel room with my own parts.. but I do like the idea that other people like it a lot.

I used the Roomba Pro for a while, and appreciated how much dust it picks up. Do your heavy duty cleaning with a normal vacuum, but roombas are very good at keeping the floor clean of those tiny specks of dust and dirt that collect on the undersides of your feet.. its best for hard floors...

I love my original roomba. You do end up treating it like a pet, just because it has so many beeps and whatnot that it seems to have a personality (don't know about taking it on vacation though....).

Roomba is awesome if you have a pet - it'll do a great job of keeping your house fur free.

Yes, it keeps those balls of fur to a minimum. And yes, we too have personified our roomba, and will even let it sleep with us on occasion.
It is hard to walk it, though, because it goes in circles, and will get into fights with the neighbors' rottweilers.

Interestingly enough, the Roomba DOES NOT tend to scare the bejeezus out of my cats like a normal vacuum does.

They do like to chase it around though...

Well, mine was delivered today (at work) and after charging it I turned it loose on my office -- picked up a ton of dirt and hair in 10 minutes; I guess the cleaners aren't doing their job! :D

Thumbs up!

If you are on the fence with this deal, go ahead and get one, you will love it. I've had mine for over a year and it is still going strong and cleaning like a champ.
Works really good to help keep pet hair under control. This doesn't replace the vacuum, but it sure supplements it quite well.

so does this thing return to its base charging station by itself like the description said on amazon.com? i don't recall seeing any other reviewer mentioning it. it would be very cool if it does.

This is the roomba 4100. I believe you need the 4210 to have the roomba automagically dock itself to the charging station (at least have it do it out of the box). Supposedly, you can buy the upgrades to let the 4100 automagically dock and recharge.

Right. You can buy the home base at HSN for $50, which also comes with the 3 hour fast charger as well.
