I wish I knew.

As it's been said here 1000x times before, none of us works for Dell Marketing, so we know about as mush as you do.

If you're looking for a 2405, you can get one for just under $800 if you use an extra coupon and FatCash along with DPA.

$1,199
- 28% (coupon available right now)
- $25 coupon (get it from ebay)
- 2% (if you have DPA)
-3% (if you have FatCash)
------------------
$797 plus shipping/tax

I think this much better that the deal in this thread... no rebates and no extra computer to try and sell or ebay off.

Well, I definitely wasn't snoozing. I tried to do some research about this system, but I had less than a day after I found the thread. You're right, I should have ordered it and cancelled if I changed my mind.

I'll keep my ears and eyes open on anandtech.

Thanks again.

Exactly. Order now, think later. Seriously if it's a Hot Deal like this, order it right away and you can usually cancel within 24 hours before it ships. I've ordered several desktops from Dell in the past and they usually ship within 3 days. That's plenty of time to "research" and ask yourself if you want to cancel?

To avoid missing out on future deals your best bet is to check AT Hot Deals and FW at least once a day.

Is the motherboard/chipset a lot better than what I have in my 2 year old 4550? In the base configuration of the 9100, it looks like I'll lose 1/2 GB RAM, 40GB in hard drive space, a DVD-ROM drive, modem, and I'll have to put in a higher end video card to play the games that I like.
Would I be able to notice a significant performance increase in the 9100 over my 4550 without increasing the RAM and adding a higher end video card? I've been trying to find some detailed info/reviews on the 9100, but I haven't had much luck. Also, I'm guessing that I'd probably want dual core technology, too.
I'm wondering if it would be better to just buy the monitor now and spend $600 in a couple of years when my current system ceases to satisfy.

Thanks for all the help. Lots of good info here.
