New Deus EX Confirmed

I'm actually optimistic about this one. Bad as Deus Ex 2 was (compared to the original, at least), they released many other clear rushed games around the same time. Ever since Eidos was bought out their quality has been going back up. Of course, it will be odd to see Deus Ex with no Warren... unless they bring him back! 😀

Deus Ex 2 wasn't a bad game, it was just poor compared to its predecessor which is one of the best games ever. I can't wait, I don't expect it to be as good as the first but it should should still be incredible, unless they go with the easy money and do like Bethesda did to Oblivion.

I never played Deus Ex 2 due to the poor performance, bugs, terrible UI, and the poor reviews. (Any mods to address the UI?), going to sit this one out as well, especially since this is probably not going to be the original team developing it. But, I will give it a try if it gets great reviews.

I agree that Deus Ex was a good game, my 2nd favorite FPS of all time (2nd only to Vampire The Masquerade: BloodLines (but, I probably should label that game an action RPG), after the latest community patch of course).

Must be a great day for all of those Deus Ex worshipers

 😀

Even if it's only as good as DXIW, it will be well worth the wait IMO. I suppose they would have to take the Illuminati ending as the canonical one, since the other three don't leave much scope for a sequel.

A Templar ending would be pretty cool. They were always my favorite faction and the idea of playing as an augmented human in hiding from angry mobs waiting to lynch you makes me happy. 😀

IW wasn't TERRIBLE itself, it just played like garbage. I would love nothing more than to continue the DX story. Tho, I do miss JC.

I loved DX1 but I didn't play DX2 to avoid the disappointment. Looking forward to DX3 big time.

On a somewhat related topic: Monolith needs to get cracking on NOLF 3.

if you can look past the gameplay faults, DX2 actually isn't that bad of a continuation of DX1's plot.

I think Monolith is still riding out the FEAR wave. When it settles down they might look into it.

play it now .... you want to trade a game for my copy of IW?

it runs great and can be modded they way you like it - lots of texture packs available

it is an awesome game ... as long as you don't compare to the original 😛

That would actually be pretty neat, but I think the "nanite plague" they released at the end of IW is supposed to remove all the augmentations without harming the human hosts. So you would have to be an ordinary person. 😛

Hey you can play IW with todays hardware 😀

You ideally want an ATI card of some sort though. It seems to heavily prefer those for some reason. The game ran pretty poorly on my dual 7800GTs and someone here said it doesn't run that well on a 8800GTS either, but it works great on the X1900XTX I have now.

That is what I figured... NOLF 3 is a gold, can't miss game as along as they hold true to NOLF 1 and 2. They could release it in 6 months or 6 years and people will snap it up.

Fear, on the other hand, will slip away into anonymity if they wait too long to put out a sequel.

DE1 FTMFW!!!! 😀😀

apparently the project lead and director won't be in on DE3 though, from what I remember from shacknews

Deus Ex is my all time favorite game. DX2 was a piece of crap.

I honestly don't want to see a DX3... the legacy is destroyed.

i do

it can only be an improvement ...

letsee ... no game

vs

DE3

i will take my chances on it being good - or not ... release the game

--and the lions 😛

hopefully they have learned mistakes from DX2, primarily that console market is not for such refined game, thus DX3 shouldn't be poor port.

Warren Spector is top notch. Ultima 7 and DE1 are the only two examples you need to know that.

Unfortunately, it looks like we'll never see his work again... maybe he was making the games a little too intelligent and thought-provoking. After all, one of the major objectives of most 'entertainment' is to dumb down the audience.
